Its for my 4m sail. The 400 mast is too big. So I was after a complete 370 or if someone just has a top of a 370 then I could put that on the bottom of my 400. Does that make sense? Thanks

Yep you get that with Ezzy skinnies - can't hurt 'em
No Limitz or Simmer tops are the same

You know you can buy just the half? If you're feeling rich enough that is

Hey, I am the same, I have a 4m sail and need to buy a 370, I only have 2 4.60m.
But I need a normal size (not skinny)
{or is skinny the "normal" size now ?},
and I don't need a top quality (%carbon). I am in Sydney.
Thanks

i have a loop setup my n/p rs6 4.6, the luff is 391, i use a 400 skinny and if anything it has improved the sail,i know a guy that wouldn't use his 4/6 because the 370 was to soft

Ive thrashed my 400. Ive bent mast extension after mast extension and it still is with me. Its been driven into reef and sand bottoms over and over and every time I come up from a wipeout I swear that this is the time that my 400 mast is finally put to rest... but no!

My 4m has the loop setup as well Keef but its at the longest length it can go. When I use my 400 mast I have about 200mm of downhaul rope (between the mast extension pulleys and the sail hook pulleys). I cant seem to close that gap anymore without going down to a 370 mast or at least a 370 top onto my 400 bottom.

Yes and you being light weight you won't want it dropped down the mast too much it will be much better on a 370 so I feel ya brother

I think you'd be better off with a 370 bottom and a 400 top if you're going to split them, at least that's what Mr Ezzy recommends...

I've tried a long top short bottom back to back in the same sail as a short top long bottom, danged if I could feel a difference though

Closing that gap would make a huge difference... Cut 20cm off your 400 maybe? [}:)]

So I can use a shorter top ( cut off 430 ) on my 430 mast to get a shorter mast for my 4 & 5m's? ( same brand mast - the sails need a 400)..What about stiffness / control issues etc for a lightweight..?

No you can't just chop 30cm off a 430 top and use it on a 430 bottom for smaller sails. When shortening a mast, 10-15cm off the bottom is about it.
The Ezzy masts are designed to mix n match tops.
Even if you use the same model mast as you suggest it will still not work as you'll be cutting quite a lot off the top off a mast and making a stiffer mast with a horrid bend curve.

For a lightweight it is even worse as you want a slightly flexier mast than us heavy fellas. For example a 4m with a luff of say 385cm that is supposed to rig on a 370 is OK on a 400 with the head strap adjusted for heavy guys to use a couple of times a year in winter storms. However you using it in 25kn instead of 35kn like us would find it awful to use.

Sorry to say it sboard but you need to go out and buy a 400 and 430 - possibly a 370 for that 4m you have.

The mast setup I'll be using is a normal 430 base with about 265mms off the top section..beggars can't be choosers.. surely it will be better than using a 430 for sails that are supposed to have a 400..?

No it will be the same

The sail will still be setting on the bottom part of the mast - whether it pokes out the top too far, or you cut it off, it is the same effect as the sail is setting on the stiffer lower part.
