(WindFoiling Worldwide)

G'day all !!

first of all big thanks and congrats to all the riders that participated in the 2021 edition.
Thanks to Dylan ( and a HUGE thanks !!) I managed to squeeze in a year ranking, and the winner is..... Lunny !!

so for 2022, I removed the nautical mile to give way to a year ranking.
At the end of 2022 the overall winner will receive a trophy (posted by me... hopefully the winner won't be from europe !!!!LOL) and other division winners will have goodies too.

if some are not familiar with the ranking calculation here is how it works :
(dixit Dylan)
Four divisions are involved in the ranking algorithm.
2s peak, alpha, 500m and distance.

For each sailor in the group, their best 2s peak for the year is taken and they are all put in a list. 1 point goes to the fastest, 2 points to the second fastest, and so on.

This then happens for each of the other 3 divisions.
Once each sailor has a score for each division, these scores are summed to give their final score for the year.

So, if a sailor were to have the best time in all four divisions for the year, they would score 4 points overall. That is the minimum score. Looking that the group now (today, 6 January 2022) the top sailor is Lunny, with a score of 16.

The board will reset after tomorrow. It shows last year's rankings until the 7th of January to give time to compile results and allow last minute uploads.

you might not see your name in the year ranking for 2021, technical issue being studied atm, could be it only took the december posters (not posts) in account.

will check this out with Dylan.

I take this opportunity to ask all posters to have a look at their results once posted just to double check any possible spike, only Savina is allowed to post 40knts !!!
as a rule of thumb, if your 2s Vmax is more than 1.5/2knts above your 100m, there could be an issue

I don't check much, no time and no intention to be the fun police ! let's keep it simple

I think you should monitor the distance division. I've heard of people turning their gps on next to their car and walking with their gear to have those extra meters.

Dylan fixed the issue with the year ranking, sooooorry Lunny you went down one position and congrats Tibor (though some tracks should be checked I do remember a 40 on the road)

let's just leave it this way for 2021, there was no plan for a year ranking anyway.

you may post from now on but dylan froze the display til the 14th just to cover every calculations.
thanks

Really appreciate the WFW Group.... thanks for setting it up and congratulations to AUS1 for the win... well done Tibor.

For 2022, the bar is alreayd VERY high!
The 34.5 knot run from Matt_91 lately must have been a screamer, looks like it was far away from any sandbar...

Hi Sean, a few of us a bit confused about the scoring. In theory in January, annual and monthly score should be the same but with my results for example I have 10 points more in the monthly ranking. The annual ranking is correct for the four categories.
The only thing I can think of is that the nm results are still being gathered for the monthly results even though the category has been deleted from the group page. Not a problem if this is the case as we still have 5 categories to chase. Not hard to work out where you are in the nm if so.
Cheers

Likewise, thanks for all your time and efforts Sean and Dylan. I really enjoy seeing how everyone is going on their foiling journeys. Certainly a personal inspiration and challenge to see those top results and try to figure out how to get closer to them!
