foilglide 6.0m requires a 460 mast. (462 luff ).... think I could rig the 6.0 with a 430 mast and an extension to make up the difference ? my mast is a Severne red RDM 430.

Yes, but how much do you weigh? If you are avg to heavier, the mast won't be stiff enough and it will be a bit flexy - the sail will bend off too easily, be soft and less stable. This trick works better for lighter weights who can't exert as much force on the rig.

Yeah with the 460 ezzy hookipa, which I think is softer tip than the severne mast, the 7.0 (I know, a slightly larger sail) FG2 gets pretty noisy when overpowered and looks like it probably would be more stable with a severne 460. Definitely takes more outhaul to settle it. But I haven't done a back to back comparison because I don't have a severne mast for it. Big difference between FG2 and HGO in that regard.
I am 85kg. Was using 8-15 knots on 1300 mid aspect front wing. As mentioned earlier did start to get a bit noisy at the upper wind range and needed plenty of outhaul. Great sail but have moved to wave sails as they are more playful
Yeah for low end I really like them as they don't go flat like wave or freestyle sails in the lulls.
For upper end, one day in particular I had a 7.0 FG2 and a 5.6 freek rigged as it was up and down all day, using the ptm 926 phantasm wing. In similar gusts, I was comfortable on either sail, not feeling overwhelmed when overpowered on the foil glide, but on the bottom end the foil glide made a big difference with more flying time. I was so annoyed on that day with the lulls I just stuck with the foil glide because otherwise I was floating around half the time waiting for a gust, and the gusts were enough that I would not have been that comfortable on my 6.3 freek.
So if there's a huge range with deep lulls I would want the cammed sail. On the upper end, I'm sure you could go even further by dropping the boom and lowering the clew attachment to the bottom hole, but it is probably even noisier and if you're going to do that it may be a good idea to reinforce the clew. I've seen HGOs with blown out clews, and racers will add a strip of reinforcement to both clew holes to help spread the load out. They have very similar construction. Wave sails are definitely more sturdily built. Freestyle sails not so much.
Tried the 7.0 in light wind to overpowered. For the first time ever I stopped and dropped to the lower clew hole. It helped, but the wind kept rising until I was in survival mode. Downsized to 5.6 freek and was still stacked. Like waterstart and immediately get in front strap and hang on without pumping and immediately fly.
It made me appreciate the foil glide even more because I couldn't make any where near the same downwind angles with the freek. Could feel the sail flatten and loose mbp. Vs with the FG I could just cruise deep with no drama.
Really annoyed though as I had my first ever hiccup with my Fenix. Stopped recording the session and it rebooted. Lost all data, so can't give hard numbers.
What would be a good next size down from 6.0 foilglide . 4.8 foilfreek or. 5.2 foilfreek? I have the 6.0 foilglide. I fooun$ that about 14kts its managable.but definitely would like something smaller . Someone said 12-15kts is all they need on a 4.8 foil freek. Which then a 5.2 would need 10-13 kts ?
this is on a 926 phantasm wing.

As above with the 4.8 foil freek, I am 85kg.
Currently using 5.9 freek below 12 knots and find I get over done above 14 knots. Have ordered 5.6 foil freek for days below 12 knots. Using sabfoil 899 as my light wind wing, 940 above 14 knots. Hope this helps...

are you ordering online or from a local shop? I'm near Canberra and freight costs are a killer!

Simon at Board Crazy should be able to sort you out. Severne sails due in about a month.

Hi there
I run the 7m 6m 5m, quite a bit of cross over but foil in almost all conditions. When maxed on the 5 you pretty much can not carry the board to the beach hahahaah. I've enjoyed the learning what works with what it's such an awesome sport!!!!!
Similar to JonnoR above, I have a bunch of sails from 2.8 to 9.2 for foiling. However, I use the 7.0 and 5.0 98% of the time (I keep a log). Don't need the others.
Quick Q; thinking of getting my wife 59kg a 6.0 FG2 on sale here.
We have an Enigma 140 which she uses on all other sails for Fin / Foil. Lengthwise it fits (up to 190 vs 188 so have 2cm to flatten it) but the big Q is will it fit the exaggerated profile of the cammed sail? Thx
k
Had same sail, doesn't rig that deep. Should be fine. Maybe touching boom if bagged out a bit. Never touched boom on enigma 170-210
Edit: rigged on sdm 430 outhaul was at 186

Cheers, all our other sails rig on that same Enigma 140-190 boom so would be a shame if we had to go an extra boom just for the one sail!
