First attempt for foiling so a bit of help

I have had a short experience kite foiling so thought as I have some gear I can modify for wind foiling why not give it a go.
I have windsurfed but a long time ago but whated to give foiling a go.
My gear consists of SS school foil, modified JP 8ft 2in x 32in Pro SUP with 5.5 cambed NP cambed sail.
Due to it being a long time since setting up this gear by the time all ready - yes u guessed it wind dropped.
But good news in about 3kn maybe gusts to 5kn all felt good.
Did not get up on foil.
From comments it seems for beginner best to keep feet on Centre line of board?
Any other advice please?

Centerline to start pumping the board onto a plane.
As the foil starts to lift, step out a bit towards the rail to keep the windward rail under control.
As the foil completely lifts, step out to the rail, or add heel pressure to counter windward rail lift.

I think it will depend of your foil and board. I have only foiled twice and in light wind but all I do is to put my front foot in the strap and rear foot wherever it feel comfy, sheet in, put a bit of weight on the back and of I go.That was using a fairly big foil and a formula board so no problem of stability. When going, I do put some pressure on my heel to go upwind and to get the board counter heeling as you can see my toes pointing up on this pic. Going downwind, I just keep the pressure neutral on my feet.


Again, I have only tried that gear in light conditions only.
