Somedays you get lucky!

Barry Bennett single fin circa mid 70's

What an absolute classic find! That's an amazing board! I wouldn't be able to ride that and do it justice, but would love to see it put through its paces. That's a great find!

I see you've deleted the one of the "dual messages" that were posted at the same time .... bit of an over thought-suba?

I have stopped selling trading/selling my previous surfboards as i had a stage over 10 years ago where i snapped 3 boards in a week which and i didn't have enough for a new one at the time for at least another month , predictably the surf cracked for the whole time whcih left me riding not much at all until i could beg steal or borrow another board...maybe one or two in there worth posting but it would be nice to see a few quivers from some of you !
This board really only goes medium to ok or maybe i am having trouble remembering how cumbersome single fins were
I'd like to say i love riding it but in actual fact it reminds me of when:-
I couldn't do a bottom turn without worrying about the fin popping out ,
I had to grab the rail to hold on to it while doing a cutback and/or go on one knee
(funny how cool those moves have become when it was actually harder originally not to grab the rail )
riding the shorie meant you generally lost the fin at some stage
sliding down the face of the barrel after you pulled in and getting shot back up and over the falls happened more times than not
you were sh8t hot if you could a 360 or a fin first takeoff
I wasn't heavy enough to do a duckdive
nosediving was a regular occurrence
retro was something to do with planets and Kepler
tubular swells was the high performance surf flick(Jack McCoys first film bit of a must see )
I am all for people experimenting with shapes and boards but you do need to be aware that sometimes that original GTHO falcon you think you are riding can in reality be a morris minor with blown head.
Although quite a few years ago i rode a beaten up piece of sh8t 9"6 Brewer single fin in bigger surf and it went a dream
still can't drive straight though when i see some junk piled on the footpath ..if only you could bottle that interest!!
