Just for fun thinking about getting a water proof camera or maybe more so a video recorder. Heading out into the surf with the kids on my own everyone asks me if i have any shots but its a bit hard when your in the water.
So was thinking of a water proof unit that i could pocket easy enough but still pull out when i wanted to.
Anyone use one or have any ideas?

Not really thing helmet mounted just yet but that is another option.

We purchased the Panasonic FT2 - and we are very happy with it. Video quality is good - much better than I expected.

(this is the newer model of the one the bloke skims across the stream in the TV ad...)

I believe there is now an FT3 model - not sure of the difference - but if so, should have pushed the price of the FT2 down).

Go Pro HD absolutely no question. Loads of assesories, cheap as, FULL HD, water proof to 60 m and nice and compact. Industry pros use them too.

Thanks for the replies. The GoPro does look great. For me i want something more hand held that maybe i can stick in the wettie when not in use.

I just ordered one on line that is compact and should do the job. Only WP to 8 meters though so we'll see.

I do really like the idea of the GoPro deck mount. Although the idea of looking up at my bulk whilst surfing doesn't paint that nice a shot..

Gopros are awesome, had 2 other waterproof vid cameras and they where to bulky and the quality wasn't even as good as the gopro..! I bought mine from here just recently, free shipping and good customer service, anyway if you're keen on one they have all you need - www.naturalnecessity.com.au/gopro
