Dunno how many West Oz waves would be overly friendly to a goat boat sans fins though, it's not like we have friendly rolling pointbreaks.
Transits would be fun and the reef just south of the mouth at Moore River is another that is soft and rolls for a long way, needs a big swell though. Yalls main too, after all another carreering out of control watercraft with a paddle won't make much difference out there will it?
On the other hand I remember surfing Little Island a bit way back with a bloke on a proper ski that went off, used to regularly take off way deeper than everyone else and crank these at will through the bowl.
Fins are good.
Ok so looks like we got off on the wrong foot. Being new to this forum I didn't know how to take everyone and the first couple of post gave me the impression that I should not waste my time.

Seriously, asking for canoe advice on a shortboard forum... I suspected somebody taking the p!ss.
Maybe I'm a little sensitive because years ago when goatboats got really popular with the kooks I got cleaned up badly by an out of control one.
Said kooks would drive past miles of empty beach until they spotted a bunch of shortboarders and thats where they would go out. Paddling boats through surfers is poor form IMO.
I didn't want to post it in the shortboard section. I was looking for a general surfing section and thought that I was posting there. I didn't realize till later that it was in the shortboard section and that there isn't a general surfing section (seems to be some sections missing from this forum :( ). So no I was not taking the p!ss. I might just restrict my posting to the general chat section from now on, being as Kayakers do not have a section.
I'm sorry to hear about your incident with a "goatboater" but I assure you that I have a little few more brain cells than that and I'm not stupid enough to put myself in that kind of situation. I may not of been in the water for the last 10 years or so but I have a long history on the water. As I said in my first post I use to race yachts so I have a very profound respect for the water.
On top of that, I'm not a bi fan of crowds. I am more likely to find a nice quiet, deserted beach and hit some waves (most likely why the missus wants me to use a shark shield). I agree that paddling through a large group of surfers or swimmers would be poor form. By the way what is a kook?
Smiko thanks for the vids. My boat is on order at the moment and both vids have made me a bit impatient

(well more than I already was anyway lol)
Anyway I hope we can just move forward from here.
Cheers
