I've surfed Sendai a little further North where a lot of that devastation footage was taken from the tsumami. I had a friend I met through YT who did a daily video surfcheck video he uploaded. They get great waves, it was an awesome place....The video above shows snow on the beach, its bloody cold Nov-Mar. Thankfully the best swells are in summer. So if you lived there you'd just snowboard in winter. My friend moved to Wakayama which is a better place for surf & life imo...****ushima was a turn off for me for having the nuke station even before the sh1t hit the fan. These days I'm not keen on getting any closer than Nikko to it. And the vid says Rad levels are about the same now as they were before, I don't feel like thats a positive thing.

The levels have returned to pre-boom figures. However it was reported underground that a big bit of plutonium is missing, most likely ejected from the No. 2 reactor stockpile and landed just off shore. Greenpeace's ship was getting readings soon after the blowout but were herded away by the government. It's safe to say that surfers from the area will suffer from thyroid cancer in the future.
