Here's a board I made for myself as a 'Car Board' ie the one you leave in your car that can ride a bit of everything.

This is the first one I have done all of the work on (except for help from Dan DMS on the super tricky bits! Also some guidance from the good crew at DMS Surfboards) But 99% of it is my own work.....

I love boards like this as they fit perfectly between riding SUP and getting right back onto your standard shortboards, I try to keep something like this in the quiver as a converter between the two.

It's a 6'8 x 21 x 2 3/4 Single with Concave -> Double -> to vee out the tail. I rode it this morning in terrible waves and it does what I wanted it to, goes like the clappers in crap. I think I found a new best friend! Given I'm posting it here I guess you could say I'm stoked with how it turned out........

P.S This is not advertising. I do not sell my boards just stoked that with the help of professional manufacturers able to turn my ideas into something that (this time anyway) has worked.

Yeah, I actually took the fin from my actual '75 single fin. It had a box and I thought it may be cool to try in this one, felt good first surf so may leave it in for a while.

The fin size may be an optical illusion, it's 8 1/4".

could be straight out of morning of the earth. love it.
if only you could go back in time to the seventies and surf uncrowded points when you are on it!

looks to not have much rocker - is that deliberate (ie for speed)

Yeah pretty flat, 2 1/4 tail and 4 1/4 nose. It's deliberate for sure. It's a speed machine. Has a pretty good vee out the tail though so gives it a bit extra curve through the rail in the tail.

When I shaped it the tip of the nose was a little thick so I flipped it a little also so it could be a little more curved now.

Rode it in 1-2 foot weak swell this morning and flew.

Nice one CMC,

I luv building and riding retro style boards, its a great feeling to ride something you have built yourself even though I have built a couple of dogs (not saying yours is a dog....) i still have enjoyed building them and learning from the mistakes.

Currently half way thru building a 5'9" mini simmons (hollow timber) but I seem to have stalled on the build process the last few months... Have a design I did ages ago for a 6'2" Morning of the earth (MOTE) square tail single fin that I would like to build next.

cheers
