Finally got some copies of my surf trip over to the Maldives....

These pics were taken at Cokes early September... It was the best day we had on the trip. 3-4ft offshore all day......

With the last 2 weeks of onshores on the GC,... a surf trip is starting to look good!

Nice shots, obviously shallow..How is it surfing in booties? i've often wondered as i'm fighting a broken toe that is going on a for about years three now. Every time i kick it it starts back.

The split toe ones are no drama - provided that they fit ya properly. Initially it takes a little while to get used to them as it feels like you foot is not on the board - after a few surfs you should be fine. Make sure you try several different brands to ensure the best fit.

Yep.. Cokes was shallow... You would almost always touch the reef at the end of your wave. I learnt on my first surf at Cokes that it is a Sea urchin farm! I got 10 small spines in my foot. You have to get them dug out ASAP to avoid infection Like Ted said, the booties with the split toe feel way more comfortable.. It takes a few surfs to get use to as your feet ""glue "" into position - but after a few surfs you get use to them...and it's alot better than urchins in your feet!

The deeper reefs I would surf without booties... and didn't have any problems. ( Sultans, Jails, Kandooma, Lucky Joes)

The board is a 6'3 x 19 x 2 3'8 Stuart rounded pin. It surfed really well on waves bigger than 3ft - I also took my fish (5'11) and my Sup... :D

I am thinking of going to the outer atolls, the southern and central ones with World Surfaries

Has anyone been down there?

If so could you share what its like please

PM if you dont want to spread it all over the net

Looking for uncrowded quality and this seems a good area to try according to their website!!!

I would like to hear from those that have been rather than rely on their own stories

Cheers

Hey brownie49, there is some really great breaks down that way and World surfaris offer an ozzie guide for the outer atolls. There are still other boats there but usually you can sneak to a spot being the only boat. Me and me mates scored our best waves at love charms and Beacons. Tiger stripes is shi..y unless you like slow long lefts.theres roughly 8 - 10 breaks.
My friends scored 1 year but suffered the next year being small and inco but then traveling back to the capital Male scoring around there. theres still a few secret spots that are real close around the main area and my preference would be to stay round the local next time. anyway i think got some pics on my profile if you want to check them. if you want to know anymore just give a message,cheers.synsies1000
