Happy Easter breezers. Hope the bunny and the swell gods were kind to you.
All the talk regarding the Aussie cricket team cheating and the subsequent debate about culture and why this has happened has had me thinking about drug testing in surfing . Are the WSL testing and if so what's the policy?

Yep, winner of each comp is tested at least, and others are random afaik. I remember jjf commenting about it last year that he pissed in his wetsuit and then afterwards struggled to supply a sample.
Yes they do. They also adhere to a privacy policy that doesn't publicise a negative result and support the surfers through any medical conditions

Sorry mate do you mean they don't publicise if they test positive to drugs ?
If that's the case surfing must be the only sport in the world that does that. I wonder if that will be the case come Olympic time.

There have been positives that have made the news. Just google and you will see. I'll paste an example below. There also have been competitors; that have required medical support through varying incidents and conditions. This has not been made available to media; as it shouldn't.

The AFL don't unless you test positive to something which appears on the banned substance list. (could be performance enhancing, or a potential masking agent).
If you test positive to recreational or prescription drugs that's usually kept quiet under the controversial 3 strikes rule, and you are expected to undergo internal counselling/treatment.

Not sure on that one up until a couple of years ago testing was done very very rarely...as in a certain guy had more world titles than he did drug tests
