going on what fellow peeps believe about what longboarding should be,or how they dismiss other styles of longboarding....

Well I will go into the hipster scam. What I find amusing about this whole soul and style and bare minimum way of thinking, potrayed by so many individuals...but more from certain brands and shapers.....IS it all started from not being able to compete at longboard contests, these initial people failed at it badly.

so they walked away and started the soul and laughable hipster ****e we now now see raking in the coin...but they are not into the coin remember, its about the lifestyle.

so let me get into longboard comps from the last few years....you will now find most comps are dominated by hipster logger events, which in nearly every case is a comp for the boys,,,or more politely they are invitational contests...such as the duct tape.

remember this logger renewal was revived by the hatred of modern longboarding contests and not wanting to be judged...but look at what has happened...cool does come at a price and marketing and who you know is a valuable tool.

hypocrisy is the worlds greatest luxury

On the hipsters I was at Burleigh late afternoon on Sunday and the place was like a mini Byron.
Everything old is new again, just a fad I hope.Look at the 3 big brands look how they have changed
their designs like tees and shorts. One even advertises board shorts which are not made for surfing in wtf.
Look at all those vintage stores and coffee shops they are making a killing atm but will this trend last.

Haha... Too Farkin funny... Nailed it..

You also forgot the funniest members of the group, the ex short boarder who used to bag LBs and even occasionally swear at people riding them and now ride them and go on about the friendly vibe and soul of riding a LB..

There's been a doco about hipsters running over the past few weeks. I was up in Sydney late last year for a turnout and plenty of hipsters were out and about. It's everywhere. It's a trend that's not going away soon I think. They don't really bother me in the surf excluding some of the nongs that aren't good enough to surf without a leggie .

all have different views on each other, all riding types of Motor bikes & all havin fun.

Hipsters make me want to punch them in head, peel their beards off their face and wipe my proverbial with them. It just seems such a scene and try hard subculture.

Of course, I am just a 43 year old who is jealous I don't get to play with hipster girls.

Unfortunately one of them is a fictional character. It would be nice if they were both figments of someone's imagination.

It would also be good if they wore a leg rope.

Seriously who really gives a farrrrk about contests? How many do you go in? How many have you been in? I went in one once - schoolboys comp in 1990 - the only reason was the nationals were at Raglan and I wanted to go there (moved there the next year for 4 years of heaven). I love contests for two reasons 1. They condense a whole lot of people in one area. 2. I like watching the pros. As for hipsters well Who really cares. Run your own race. They certainly do not bother me and my every day living. If they want to do what ever they do that's fine with me - just wear a leg rope if I am around.

I have always enjoyed surfing for the fun and places it has taken me. It's never been a sport for me. Seen many great things over the years courtesy of the surfing bug. And long may it continue. Hipsters - they can do what they like. Let them hangout in places like Byron n the Goldie and leave me in piece over here as for contests I will most probably finish my contest career on 1 comp with 1 quarter final ! And that will be all they write

Probably give it one more week Pup but back at the new place on Saturday for a few days before another stint in Syndey for 10 days of work so if it's cranking I maybe forced to give it a test run fortunately thensurf has not been all time the last few days and I have had lots on so am not missing too much. Heading into primo swell season so need it fixed sooner rather than later. How's yr move east looking ?

Pick the prime stuff and give the rest to charity Pupster, makes you feel real good and helps others.

If you have had it stored and haven't used it in yomis, give it to people who will appreciate it or a charity that can make money from it.

Anyway that's what a real hipster would do.

I reckon the hipsters have improved the planet...

Think of things like:

Farmers Markets
Good Coffee
Good Music
Good Coffee shops with Good music
Value of Handcrafted unique items

I mean their beards and fashion is not for me but I quite enjoy a lot of the changes that the fashion has brought with it. They're also funny to look at with their perfeclty individually exactly the same as each other thing.

Next up is the Man Bun though which is just going too far....

Section 1 , Paragraph d ...... "Full on McTavish whore , suspected sluutt , blatant unashamed Pimp , again ......"

Appeals process ends in ....... 4 seconds

Don't think I've seen a hipster in the surf in Sth Oz- black wetsuits + white boards here. On trips to Nth NSW and Qld over last 4 years what ****ted me the most was hipsters holding the front of beautiful longboards and dragging the tails through the sand. If your arms aint long enough to get them around a log, surf a shortboard. Or get longer arms.
