help me.

i borrowed a 14' prone board to play with to help my 666 paddling- f ing skinny and a bloody rounded hull- hard gig. those guys are tough and fit i can tell you. the knee/prone technique of reaching out with bent arms and rolling your abs up under your chest action at the top of the stroke is something i'm looking to mirror with 666 paddling.

so it dawned on me after having coffee with the lm crew i should get a longboard i can knee paddle on like the hipsters do.

paddling up a creek on a prone board is hard and boring. i'm thinking a can practise knee paddling as i paddle back while surfing- no joke.

question is what size board, does it have a thick centre and thinner nose and tail foil or what.

any ideas would be welcome.

thinking sdr would be the man to talk to

cheers

CMC posted about this a while back re dims....I am not sure to be honest LL - how much do you weigh? 80-85?

If you work off a nice crusier type board of 9'6" * 3 * 23 and then just move it up from there.........as you will need more volume to knee paddle from what I am told

It's the width more so than the thickness lacey. And no I don't think it's a crazy idea. For the last couple of weeks I have been paddling out the back at nearly full speed, sometimes at full speed, concentrating on my technique and aiming to improve my paddle fitness. Great idea I think.

I have been mucking around on clubby boards lately and they are hard compared to what those sluggo wearing wankers make it look.

I saw this the other day nextdoor and gave his tips a crack this weekend....after 5 surfs trying his ideas I reckon I paddle a lot faster....I have lost some stamina though as my muscles are hurting from their new groove. I am pretty happy with it so far though. I have never really thought much about my paddle technique before. It made for a fun paddle back out after each wave as I was having to concentrate to keep the new stroke. I thoroughly recommend it.

thxs ted and chrispy. mate been eating right, not diet cokes etc and been running a bit so i'm 76 kgs atm.

chrispy i've had a go of a bark 14'er up to the bridge and back etc, prone and kneeling. f### you would get fit doing that. no rests like sup paddling.

i'm not that into it so i'm thinking a bit of knee paddling out to the lineup, reward- take a wave off mac

Yep Nick Carroll pretty much says the same thing Ted. I am more trying to protect my shoulders along side a faster and more efficient paddle stroke. You can feel the different muscles being used that's for sure. I felt it more at the back of my bicep,no idea what that muscle is called lol

Lacey, I bought a 10'6 'longboard style' SUP so as to surf it without a paddle on bumpy or 'non 666' days and am also doing some prone crossover work on it - fit's in my car, can surf, SUP, prone or all in one session - all round work out and loving it.

I did but a 14' Bark prone a while back and totally hated how limited it was - this 10'6 works for me.

i didnt make it past the 5min mark, from laughing , the roll is a great point but the high elbows is a crack up. a swimmer must roll also keeping the elbows up, the next move is about entry into the water , a surfer is out of the water not in the water pffffft
