^just like the subject says.. I find Umina Beach on the Central Coast to be great for longboards as its generally a slower fat rolling wave. Just wondering where some other breaks are, that are really popular with Longboarders.

Thanks!

Queensland !!!! So many points up there and another one in the crowd would make no difference ....... Noosa has to be right up there if you ask me...lots of diff waves, warm water, beautiful surroundings. Byron is also pretty fun as well but very very crowded like Nossa. Mac & Co seem to love LM as well......

My vote is probably Bells... Potentially the best Longboard wave in the world!

It can be so varied... High tide small Rincon, or booming through the Bowl, and anything in between... The Longboards do really well out there, especially at mid tide and high tide, when it can get a bit too full for the average short-boarder.

Wave quality can be sublime, and "hours of high quality waves per year", is very high.
Just bring "rubber"! 'Cause it gets cold!

Wouldn't you need a straight south swell to get into Umina ?

Anywhere that isn't crowded and is chest high seems to float my boat just fine. No shories though, that is SB time usually.

Long period south swell and a north ly wind sees one of the longest waves in Aus light up Scotty just down the road from jthere....sadly it's so predictable when it's on that half of Sydney comes across in their boats and jetskis. It's well worth it though.

Teds got it all wrong

Noosa is incredibly inconsistent and when it does get a wave is just a messy chop.. no one ever goes there..its also real sharky ... and theres no chicks

the best is the goldy ... thats where everyone should go

Thanks guys. I want to take some surf trips soon and learning about the various breaks around the country really helps.

Cheers,

Scott.

From what I have seen up there I would call that not too busy smh.....in fact far from it - there only seem to be 3 people paddling on to the wave that that bloke is dropping in to.........

i'm afraid that's true. when i was shortboarding i used to dread bigger swells because that meant the points were the only option.

truly the most frustrating experience around if your a touch off with your surfing, a touch out of sync with the sets.

what's maddening is watching kooks somehow score waves. even the best have **** days out there. you could get out exhausted from paddling for hard for 2 hrs and get bugger all and do the walk of shame back to your car swearing never again

even really crowded d/bar was better for wave count somedays.

then once in a while you would score so many great waves and get sucked in again. when swell hits there and its on, i rate place as cruel as golf

sorry to say be 666 ing kept me out there surfing the points.

Lacey - don't think I've ever read a better description of it.

Jump in at Snapper - 6 waves to Kirra - 2 hrs.
