Give me your thoughts on this, seriously considering it. I'm sure the brand won't influence your opinion, yeah I'm looking at you Mac, seriously but any info and opinions would be appreciated.

Looks nice - Simondo loves the mid-lengths. Good luck.

He has a single fin up for grabs on his site

IMO it's a very unusual hybrid of two distinctly different boards and I am not sure why anyone would want to do it. The bluebird is a very nice, slightly modernised 70s single fin type of board that is a reasonable board in experienced hands and the carver fish is a kinda performance fish that is very popular with bigger guys who want plenty of paddle power and who want something more shortboardy than a carver.
I think you need to decide whether you want it to look at and say you have it or whether you have a particular role in mind for the board and whether it's the board for that intended role.
And before Mchaw gets on and says I'm brand bashing I am certainly not - I am being honest with my opinion of the board. I think both the bluebird and carver fish are good boards and particularly the carver fish but I feel it was probably made for a very specific want/need/whatever and you need to keep that in mind.

Also why it has only been used a dozen times since 2009

Good points boys, but i like unusual ....yeah I've had a carver before and my everyday board at the moment is either the 9 footer or a 7'2 egg, takayama scorpion like but not quite, with one fin. So thinking this board might suit as a replacement for that one, but i have been getting away from singles lately so looke like a nice comprimise, also surf a lot of beaches so need something duckdiveable but that still paddles well,

I'll also mention I am a lightweight less than 70kg wet but like abut of volume....In my surfboards Not women, unless it's late I'm drunk but that is a different discussion... for example my log is. A 10'plus Volan glassed takayama model t.

Keep the feedback coming.
But there is alittle bit of board lust.. I like it...

Hey SP....I am a lot heavier than you and ride a 5'10" and 6'4" as my normal boards - a bit wider and thicker than what others ride but the joy is that I can paddle them easily, duck dive piece of cake and the kicker is that they perform like a short board! Great for the beaches around these parts and the 6'4" still goes well on those 6 foot days. When you are next down this way you can take one for a ride if you like and see how they go for comparison.

^ 6'4? Do they at least have one fin, na seriously thanks for the offer, I'm not that old either, closer to 30 than 40 but I just like longer, wider boards. I actually just sold a 6'5 through lack of use and diminishing time to stay fit but i definately know what you mean by shorter is good around here, the longer rocker is sometimes hard to fit in to the wave, be nice to have a dollar for every nosedived takeoff on the longy but it's not really about volume I just like longer boards. I tend to surf a bit front footed and further up the board.
But I think the shine is waining on the bluebird. If anything I'd say it's probably to thick by just under half an inch and probably 2-4 inches longer than ideal but as I said I just like it for some reason.

Well what do you expect me to say, sorry I hate it,it sucks, look for a different brand.

Bad jokes aside

That foxsup is a dead set tosser, however he makes some good points Its really a one dimensional board imo and if thats the way you want to surf or maybe add to your quiver go for it

Boofy, sometimes other things get in the way or the person purchased the wrong board from the beginning or maybe suffered an injury

Fabulous board its a MC TAVISH

don't know much about these boards but from what i can see i would take it out in reasonable crowded fun point waves say like lm and through. i would imagine top to bottom carving nicely but nothing to radical. easier to paddle into waves and up the point then the regular shortboarders infesting the line up and ultimately you competing with them for waves
cheers

I'd ride it as a 2+1. 7.5-8 inch single plus GXQ side bites. But you'd have to play around with the front or rear options. Probably rear.

Speak to McTavish also, get their thoughts on why it was finned up like that in the first place.

It looks like it has a bit of rocker, might suit the beachies more. Not sure. But depending on your experience level "SP", this could be a good board for you. Probably a good option for you. Looks like a fullish volume 7'2. Nothing wrong with that. Some people don't like volume...

You've got bugger all to loose. Buy it, ride it a few times, and see... Sell it on if you don't like it!

Then you can rethink again after that... Go to a 7'0, or a 7'4/7'6....

Hey SP i had a 7'6 Carver Fish for several years but it didn't have the fin box, just 5 fcs plugs. I am only 70 kgs too and found it pretty easy to adjust when dropping down off the longboard (compared to using a real shorty!). I mostly rode it as a thruster with FCS glass M7's

IMO, unless you are going to use it a lot a single, having a 7" finbox fin and sides is going to detract from the boards natural speed and maneuverability.

When i set it up as a quad, mine didn't work as well as the McT Bobsled model (which is a specialist quad-only board that kinda replaced the Carver Fish). I think its 'cos the fcs fin plugs are set really forward and grouped close together? Or it may just be the goose riding it!

Great looking board to lust over though - Mark

Thanks for the feedback boys, decided against it at this point in time, wanted it to fill a hole in the quiver for days that are a bit bigger and not really suited to the longboard, duck diving more, suckier beach break waves. No points down this way , but think it's still a bit overvolumed, not for surfing more duckdiving repeatedly.

Ted, do you know what kinda volumes your boards are? If there CI etc with models do you mind posting the names.

Cheers

For those interested i was also told the mctavish board had ben carverised (sic) to make it have more rocker than the bluebird and the tail was done like that to try and loosen it up

my 6'4" is a CI POD - not sure of the volume - but its loads! It paddles almost as good as my 5'10" and thats a Firewire Sweet Potato which comes in at 42 on their website from memory. I could definitely ride both boards smaller but like volume as I like catching lots of waves and making life easy!!!! I normally surf beachies most of the time so it makes life easy. If I was back living at Raglan I would have something a lot different!!! I also have a 6'10" for when its gets bigger.
