I have been competing on longboards for over 10 years, there is an 8' catagory in a lot of longbord competitions, can this bord be seen as a longboard in an 8' division?
Technically yes - traditionally no - it's more of a stretched out fish template, and having owned a 7'3" I would hazard a guess it would surf more like a big fish rather than a 'small' longboard - IMHO.
Have never competed in a longboard comp but for me if it doesn't glide like a longboard it ain't a longboard . I have a 6 7 fish , granted it is 1 foot 5 inches shorter then the 8 ft XL but it is definitely a short board and I assume the XL would retain the same traits .
