Hi guys,

Found this forum & looks like a bit of fun.
I've recently had a custom Redline built to assist with getting back into it after an injury driven 4 year break. The Redline's 10' x 24" x 3.5" with triple 15mm redwood stringers & volane glassed.

I regretfully sold my 9'2 Fireball last year to help fund some medical bills & now find myself lacking the second board I feel I'd like.

Here's the cruncher at 6'2" & currently 118kg I'm feeling my options are a little limited, I've got a permanent shoulder & knee injury but I'm not going to let that stop me from enjoying myself, just need to consider paddle-ability etc, I'm considering getting another Fireball made or been looking at RA 'What I Ride' & Walden 'Magic Model' just need to decide on epoxy or PU I guess???

Anyway good to jump on board & hope to have some fun here.

Cheers.

Vanders.

Hi vanders1,you have picked the right site for fun and some seriousness but i wouldn't go under 9'6'' being your height and weight etc hope to see you in the water with the other qlder's/ nsw border surfers. There are some other people on this site no names mentioned but you will soon pick up on them, who will snake you and do what ever just to get more waves than you but don't let that deter you as they will still shout you a coffee at the end of it all.Happy surfing.

I'm about an inch shorter than you and about 8 kg lighter with a next to useless left knee and I'm a crap paddler.

I don't have a great deal of fun on anything under 10' these days but more importantly it's got to be close to 24'' wide or even more. The epoxy is a bonus for me because the wave entry is just that little bit sooner so I have more time to get on board and set up.

At the moment I'm riding my 10'6" Munoz none stop and loving it but it's not one of the worlds great turners, if you see one that a shop can wax up and rent, try it, otherwise, the 10' RA you mentioned sounds good.

Thanks for the replies fellas, I love a site that doesn't take things to seriously & lets some crap be slung.....

I'm thinking I might like to stay around the 10', wish they produced the RA epoxy in 10' wood finish, recon that would be a sweet looking board, maybe the 9'6 might just have enough volume??

Still have a soft spot for the Mc's though..(ducks for cover).

Anyway thanks again for the welcomes, as soon as I'm back in action after this calf tear I'll try & catch up in the water.

They do and they are

http://www.surftech.com/boardDetails.php?bid=SURFBDS+%3A+W0081-1000-RA&type=SURFBDS&shaper=Robert+August&skill=&weight=&rshape=&cond=&qual=

Although I can't understand why they say it's a single and the pic shows sidebites.

The 9'6" is 81cc whereas the 10' is 87, at your weight you may want the one that's close to 90.

Dukes also have a brand new white 10ft Fireball that has been sitting there a while and its a beautiful board. I am pretty sure it is going for around a grand so it would be the best value Mct around at the moment.

Did the knee Op go as planned?

Hey mate - the knee op still hasn't happened. The other knee went as well, so the surgeon has decided to try some other less invasive treatments to see how it goes before having to do a bi-lateral op. They aint great but still holding up ok at this stage. Maybe just prolonging the inevitable but time will tell.

the supping has been very therapeutic and have been doing some board tests for a close mate that owns a sup shop up here so it and he have been very very good for my sanity of late. I have had a couple of surfs with tom (remember him) and starting to do a bit more each week so all good there. I am actually really enjoying jumping between the sup and the longboard as they both present new challenges every session. Hope you are well and the jobs going good - look forward to catching up soon.

(sorry about the hi-jack guys)

(double thread hijack apology)

Thanks for asking about the new job, so far so good.

I'm developing some new building management systems and the people I'm working for are starting to get that "hey, why didn't we think of that" look on their faces.

They don't expect computer based innovation from old farts

I was talking to an asto owner up at the woopi comp in November and he said that Gary does spend a lot of time talking to his customers to make sure he gets it right.

Yes you are a S*#t

But they have always been my favourite kind of people
