Having a bad run of surf lately.

Bought a 2 radio controlled cars recently. My son has been loving them almost as much as I have!

Bought the HPI Blitz... Goes insane. We got some great air today at a BMX track. Awesome handling... Light front end, so it doesn't nose dive in the air either!

Also got this deep Vee Bottom today... It's actually taught me some hydro-dynamic design.
Goes awesome... 25MPH+ is the stated top speed. I agree, it does 40km/hr+.
Self righting...

Action shots of the boat.

17 inches long...

In the RC world, the fast electric stuff is Brushless Motors, and LiPo Power (battery). This has both of those key ingredients.

Brushless + LiPo = HyPo

Christmas is upon us.
Can you let us know where you got them from and prices?
They both look like fun.
For the kids....

These look fantastic! I have been looking at one of the cheapy HSP nitro cars for a while, probably a truggy of some sort. I imagine they would be great fun, would be wicked to pop a go pro on one!

Would love to buy a DJI Phantom + gopro mount and gimbal though. Would be wicked for some surfing edits! Pity it is such an expensive piece of gear!

Tom.

HSP is quite OK, but it is entry level. Super fun though. HSP LiPo Electric Brushless are also worth considering, in lieu of Nitro. Quieter, reliable, and less maintenance.

HSP v's HPI is like a WRX v's a Porsche... Almost as fast, just cheaper finishes and parts!

My HPI is insane fun... Flies along at ground level, and flies through the air. Amazing control in the air, and perfect suspension for landing...

LiPo HSP is roughly $200, 4wd. With batteries.
LiPo HPI Blitz is roughly $440, 2WD. Add $100+ for a good battery and charger.
The Blitz is faster, looks heaps better, and is slightly harder to drive as a 2WD, but more rewarding... The rooster tail wheel spins are amazing!

HPI Blitz - suspension, scale, detail, tyres, chassis, crash bars, motor... All are superior to HSP... But at a price.

Perfect 1:10 scale Short Course Truck.
HSP 1:10 is smaller.

Mainly wanted it for the fun of playing with a small engine, I love to fix things and I thought this would be a fun project and rewarding when fixed haha :D

540 for the blitz, if I were to spend that kind of money it would be on a Phantom. Ariel photography would be so much fun!

That sounds like a head ache Chrispy!
Yet it doesn't surprise me that HPI petrol/nitro engines are rubbish. The external build is ok, to average! Hate to think about average fitting bits inside an engine! Much harder to stuff up an electric motor.

on the boat one, i have a mate who we call the mad professor, and he built a boat and was banned from competing in sanctioned races...the monster he created was awesome you would have wet yourself grom

I've gone and bought each of these things... All in the name of science, and Hydrodynamics, and learning...

Hopefully have both for the weekend. Or at least 1 of them for the weekend.

Blue Mania is 23 inches long / 560mm or so... 65km/h
US-1 is bigger at 30/31 inches, 660mm or so... but only 45km/h.

I know!
It would also look cool in that "Dark Marine Blue", with White Stripes.

Here is our flat day fun on the East Coast of Tassie!

An amazing little machine and a great project! Fun learning about the engine and everything! Cheap too! For parts and to run, a pain on maintenance but just have to check everything before riding. But I enjoy fixing it!

Cheers,
Tom.

Damnit you beat me too it. Usually the people who ride these things don't have much of a clue about bikes. Not talking about you Teacake.

Haha probably, can't say I have ever noticed that. Came like that though so not too sure if it is supposed to be like that or not. Haha well spotted! Might have to go fix it today.
