Agreed... 6'4" Egg is not a long board... maybe you went too small...
I went from 6'10" SB's to an 8ft min-mal to a 7'6" min-mal (both customs) to a 7'3" XL Fish as well as a 9.1 HP McT.
Caution: once you've had some volume under you it's hard to go back to a SB... just for the wave count alone - particluarly in small crowded summer waves.

After last weekend on my 6,3 SB in shoulder to head high beachies, I think Im surfing pretty good atm imo
i agree bout the corky issue doggie,i have been bounced off on take sometimes
. when i go from the lb,it takes me a few waves to get used to it again. then again once im on it for a bit,im loving her again
