Great pic's obct,
Ok it was around 1980 at the Cove on a big swell, the headland was packed with landlovers and the guy's that were to scared to go out, cameras everywhere you get the picture.
My mate being a much better surfer than me and who surfed the point a lot now often than me,talked me into the rock jump.
As I was making my way slowly (not that keen ) but my mate insists I'll be fine just follow me he said.I was about two meters behind as we started walking over the rocks with whitewash up to our knees hitting us hard.My mate Steve makes his way to the jump off rock and makes it and starts the paddle with a strong sweep from the south.
Right my turn as the crowd above look on,I wait for the set to pass and off the rock I jump.**** my leggie gets tangled in the rock behind me and instead of landing on my board I land on the rock,I know I am in trouble as the crowd cheer as they do. I try to untangle my leggie before the next set hits me **** too late I get dragged across the rocks and sliced open like a cheese cutter, blood pissing out of both hands, chest, guts and legs. The crowd are all focused on me their entertainment.I eventually make my way around the point and back to the beach,as our car was parked on the headland I had to walk up the hill past hundreds of people with blood coming out of me everywhere, oh that's the guy,oh **** look at him I hear as I make my way to the car I turn to see Steve pull into a eight foot barrel, now I am ****ty.Steve comes in and said **** best waves and surf in years how did you go I did not see you out and then he looks at me and starts laughing as mates do.To answer the question I never rock jump
