Got a call on Wednesday, not long after catching the best wave I have ever caught... On the other end of the line, a guy called Greg asked me, "what fin do you want in it,... 10 or 11 inch?". I said "10 will be heaps thanks". Greg said, "what colour, clear, blue, smoke, red, black, white or orange?". I said... wait for it... "Blue thanks!".

I want obct to tell us a tale about being the first one to put a fin in the box!

Someone called Greg would be the best 60+ charger anywhere he rips.

Yep, Greg Tilley. Is he 60? I suppose he would be, just... Had him picked for Mid 50's... But that's close to 60 anyway.

With a quick bit of further research, it says here "Years Surfing: 51". So yeah, probably roughly 60.

Found it.

Board Repair - according to obct, for Weiry.

Don't worry Weiry, these are an easy repair.

First up. You can't do anything if the area is wet, you need to dry it out completely, if it's small enough just put your mouth over the crack and suck. Don't worry about the taste remember, it's been in the water a long time and close to a lot of sea life.

If the crack is really big you may need a machine to suck it out, I believe there's some specialised equipment sold in Amsterdam that will do the trick.

Next you will need to clean that crack out, your fingers are best for this but don't be too rough or you'll damage something. Just go gently at first with one finger then work you way up. You may even find that you'll need to get your whole fist in there but once again, remember to go very slowly.

You'll know when you've cleaned it enough because it will start to make a funny noise.

You're probably now ready to put the filler in there but before you do, make sure you don't need some hardener. Usually you'll find that by this time there's already enough hardener and you won't need much more.

Once again, you've got to go pretty slow with the filler to start with but you can start to speed up as you gradually get more in there.

Occasionally you'll have a problem with the filler going off far too soon, this is bad and must be avoided at all costs, if you think is about to happen, start thinking about guys riding SUPs, that usually does the trick for most longboarders. If you're already a SUP rider, try thinking about girls, that should stop it going off.

Just keep on pumping the filler in there until you see it start to run out the sides, this is a good sign that you've pumped enough in there and it's time to finish up.

The finishing can be done one of two ways, either use your hand to keep smoothing the area over, whilst keeping a firm but gentle hold around the board or, use the uniquely Australian method of just cleaning you tools on the drapes, grabbing a beer and going in the other room to watch the footy.

I hope this helps.

Give me 20-30 minutes, and I will "have the pics to show you it happened!". Board has arrived.

Also, a nice McTavish T-Shirt was stuffed into the box! Unexpected / unordered extra!

Just got home from a few days over the other side on the Mornington Peninsula. Always fun over there. Caught the Car Ferry over. Young Matteo loves it! Plus the old Steam Trains at Queenscliff. We saw "Salty", Thomas's friend.

Had a really fun chat to "Bean" the owner of Balin in his Sorrento store. Will post a pic... Needs a different topic.

Anyway, upon arrival this new board was waiting for me! I popped a sign on the front door, to tell them to drop at the neighbors place if I was out.

This is "18393". Bob has already called it the "Occasional Pin". So that will always be what the board will be known as. Feels awesome under the arm. Very happy longboarder! Plus a bonus T-Shirt!

If you like it, you should put a fin in it!

The Occasional Pin Single- you boys (and girls!) are gunna be in for for some drunked rants in the future! Just giving you the heads up!

Well we were blessed with well overhead waves today.
So I thought, gotta give the Occasional Pin a go in some juice.
Really happy with it. Perfect for drawing some really smooth long arcs. Paddles unreal too.

It's 8.8 kegs (dripping wet), and a really subtle Vee through the whole board. Rails are modern out the back. Elsewhere they are a blend between modern and old school. Volane Glass. Really slight green tinge on the laps. The ride is lovely combo between Old & New. Really happy with it.

Verdict - A KEEPER! I will be riding it quite a bit.

How does it go on Big Open Faces doing long drawn cut backs? UNREAL! 10 out of 10!

Caught 2 x 300-350m waves today. From way out the back, all the way though to the beach. How many cut backs? Mate, I lost count! I'm a very happy surfer today!

(I've noticed that the other 9'6 Pin with Green Tint has also sold - none left!).
