Most glassers can do tints without too much trouble.

With plugging the McTavish site... But click around that for some tint ideas. I think the decals also need to look right. Like what Channel Islands do, they mix up the decals to suit the tints, etc.

anyone can tint a board but,

it just takes time to be a good 'tinter'. some many methods- how will the colours mix, how long you leave the tint in one spot after pouring on the board determines a lot. that determines on how you want it to spead, the colour strength etc etc.

stripes, marble look, two tone colour and the list goes on.

and remember they still have to work the resin into the cloth- knowing when and timing is everything

the best ever i've seen was a c4 custom that the then import left up at greenline when dave 'macca' owned greenline. really really tight small tint lines. like they did it with a comb- amazing.

Yep, Google is the best unbiased way to view tints!
But I can't think of a better single place of reference, than the McT site. Good source of ideas. And in fairness, their tinting is quite progressive, whilst remaining traditional. The deck inlays vary in templates, plus they have been progressive with the cotton cloth pattered inlay work. Sometimes adding structural integrity and artwork together...

macs got it right. twas a good board. ripped in the juicy stuff due to the swallow tail i reckon


i ended up creasing this one. the only one i've done. 29" wide i think.

it was a really good looking board.no gloss coat over them just protec.

after performance- no show boating with fancy polished glossy boards

As far as tints go - you are not stealing - just sharing art They can be very technical or they can be just as easy as doing a normal glassing job. Here is some proof that even a beginner can pull them off
