They look fun - reminds me of that Derek Hynd footage at J-Bay. I think I would need to drop 10kg and move to a point break before I adopted one of those as my go-to board. I am sure that those things would find the going tough in the beachies!

You would be stealing all the waves on yr starboard!!! Yes I know who you are..........Yes there would be a few days when it would go well out there......I try not to think of it as a classic point break though - it lets me down too often!!!! I prefer the beach just to the south that involves a walk!

Ok - I must admit that I thought that was stupid and dangerous until I caught myself smiling at the coffee table bit

A mate in Coolum has been riding super short boards of late, this morning we had a little surf and he showed up with a 4'2" biscuit
it was 22" wide and 2 + 1/2 thick, looked funny as, until I paddled back out and watched him do a cheater 5 for about 30 meters.
He ain't no grommie either, the guy is 42 years old.

Will do Sharpie.....my neighbour tells me some great stories of the good old days down there.....mid week out of holidays though its still pretty empty. And even on w/e's its a dream compared to my previous life on the northern beaches!

I have had a few nice times out at the point but as you say it does make you work on your cutties - esp on a short board.

More foam riding, from the same movie, the bit below is from the website

Filmed on one winter day, Ryan Burch lays into his 4'10" block of styrofoam. He took a saw to a soft top surfboard blank and voila- no fins, no resin or fiberglass, no stringer, no leash... just a square chunk of foam. More shenanigans coming soon via the new surf film "stoked and broke" a surfari epic on zero dollars.
