I have an old 9'2" Gill board (pics below) purchased from a shop in Torquay back in the early 90s. I've had the board re-sprayed as per the pics. The only physical mod was the fin itself, where it originally had a large "nose" fin, and I wanted the traditional D style fin, but the guy at another shop had no idea what I wanted and stuffed up the shape. Looks more like an "A" shape. She surfs really well though!
I did see another Gill malibu at a retro surfboard shop near Kirra, QLD. She too was for sale and was a beauty! I think the shop is still there next to the Antique shop in McClean St Coolangatta.
I got given this board about 10 years ago, it was in the rafters of a garage in Beaumaris for a long, long time covered in dust, totally original condition with relatively few dings considering it was surfed in a pre legrope era, lovely piece of local surfing history

Nice one! Lovely indeed. Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Any chance of what that little display card says there? Is that at the Torquay Surf World museum?
sure is , no idea what the card said, it was more about the shaper GILL rather than the board. If i remember something about him being one of the first VIC shapers bla bla bla
Why did i sell my Hayden,Woosley,Gordon& Smith and Scott Dillon,to buy modern mals of course if i lived at a point break they would have been keepers but really i should have kept them, many years ago they were in demand then when i went to sell them the fad was over.
