I vaguely recall seeing an old pic of an outrigger with a film camera mounted on it.

What amazes me about those old clips is how good the islanders looked before they fell victim to all our fats and sugar.

True OB

Our addiction to fast foods is scary . Talking to a friend in Qld last week apparently there are 2 KFC stores in SE Qld grossing around the 50 grand mark per week .

That's a hell of a lot of chooks / grease / salt / fat .

Couldnt agree more, i just recently acquired all these surf films and docos from the 50's and 60's and every single person is ripped and fit. Unbelievable how in 50 yrs we can **** everything. Always interesting talking to surfers from that era like ur bob mctavishes and the stories of them surfing for 8 hrs straight only to come in have a pot of lentils and a few bananas

Pretty standard fare to have your picture taken with the Duke (statue)
in downtown Waikiki,if you can muscle the Japanese and American tourists out of the picture, mine of course was taken when film was still in vogue,(99, the year that the layne beachley curse morphed from mild supposition to full blown confirmation but that's a whole thread in itself...) but in actual fact the mass market digital camera was yet to appear and film was the main option,
do you think i can find that FKer?

For me the best example of how our processed western foods, and in particular corn syrup, damages both us and them is this guy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Kamakawiwoʻ;ole

His voice was a gift to the world and he died so young.

I think his brother also died young from a heat attack for probably the same reasons.

Yes he was a legend. Apparently he did the recording for this song in one cut. I never get tired of listening to it.
