Al, this takes me back, way back, over half a century back, all the way to the mid 60s when I saw my first IH Scout, I used to go out of my way on weekends to stand outside the showroom window of the International Harvester head office on Parramatta Rd, across the road from Hastings Derings Ford, alongside Duck Creek just so I could drool over the red and white original Scout on the showroom floor.

The originals all looked exactly the same.

Sure, I liked Landys and the original jeeps, but the Scout was by far may favorite, so utilitarian, so tonka toy tough, yet such perfect symmetry.

Years later, whenever you saw this model, you could be sure it was full of rust, they must have been imported as deck cargo on submarines.

As I was looking for this pic of the first model, I came upon and interesting fact, these originals had 4 cylinder motors either a 152 or a 196cu inch, but International Harvester were not able to gear up to produce a 4 cylinder engine from scratch! solution? just get the 304 & 392cu inch V8s and chop them in half Back in those days I never got the chance to see the engine in one, but that's why all the none diesel 4 cylinder models were slanted.

Ya kiddin OB,I used to work right next to Duck creek on the other side of International at the Good Year tyre warehouse, haha.I originally started at Dunlop at Smithfield but they merged some years later and we moved into the Good Year warehouse at Lidcombe.Hastings Deering ford ended up being Fury Ford across the road from us.I to fell in love with a car in the 80s and used to check it out in the window all the time in Church st Parra. It was a 280ZX Nissan, loved em but never bought one,dreamin,haha!...

Nah don't like short boards. Anything under 9' does not register.
