Nice lookin stick!!
At that weight I hope it holds up to the usual punishment SUP's endure.
A few of the crew down in Vicco are not enjoying their lightweight brushed carbon surf SUP's.....they're not a lot of fun in decent sized waves with a bit of wind blowing.

The Starby carbon construction offers much more than just low weight as they also happen to be durable.

They've been proven year in year out to take more of a beating than any make or brand I've come across. Whether you like the way they surf or not they will come out looking pristine at the end of the season.

This season a few other brands are running premium constructions like Fanatic and JP and again durability is again proving solid. Time will tell if they can last the way a Starby carbon does but so far so good.

In saying all this though your board does look sweet and well deserves the attention it'll get up at the States.

Top and bottom? Dan's are 1x6 bottom, 2x6 top with a patch and would come in 5kg for something that volume. Mine was 5.3 but is 95L

Yea ill see how it goes, my last board was 6 top 4 bottom and has lasted over a year, few repairs..

I was talking to our shaper and he said the foams good, stringers good, it's got carbon in it. Just the deck might dint a bit.. But in saying that its not my only board to ride. Iv got more to come as well. More of a everyday board soon

One layer 4 oz. I would kill that first surf.

Given I am off comps, I am putting the money I would have wasted participating in the State Longboard Titles on a fun shortboard; 2 x 6, x 6 with a deck patch.

An absolute work of art hand shaped by an undisputable legend. I might post photos when I pick her up Friday!

I note, I am already starting to sink the deck of the 6 + 4 + extended deck patch with 6 bottom performance longboard I had shaped for comps. Given my 8 oz logger has a better flow, talk about the excesses of our narcissisitc disposable society?

Great looking board.. One four on the bottom should be fine but I'd be needing two fours on the deck (at least in the staning area) unless you're very light on our feet.

How heavy are you?

Great looking stick but with only 4 + 4 expect some hail damage and a couple of nice foot prints early on The board really looks a weapon.

Oops, I forgot to factor in the strength differences between polyester and epoxy. Nonetheless, such a light epoxy board is likely to take water at the slightest impact.

Yes, it is a comp board only. The days in between will probably be spent drying her out!

its got a stringer, but i can't see it lasting. you would be lucky to get away with that on a short board.- sups aren't cheap

It's only a test shape for now, ill see how it goes, wasn't my idea to put 4 on Thr deck but our shaper isn't stupid so can't be to bad.

But time will tell! See how it goes at supfest and if I brake it ill get another one with 6 ounce haha

The problem your likely to have on a board that light is that it will catch the wind in the strong offshore conditions which are expected for the Southern Cross comp. This could see you getting hung up and make it near impossible to satisfy the typical speed, power flow juding critria

Best take your old beast just in case?

In passing, just to show I am not just picking on Dylan and I put my money where my mouth is, I am stoked with the MR 1980 retro twin I bought with the money from the State Longboard titles refund and what I had budgeted to surf the event. At 6 x (2 x 6) with deck patch it is a work of art.

I had it out The Spot yesterday getting the backdoor from behind the bodyboaders on the right wave. The deep entry to the tube just would not fit a SUP. Nonetheless, I might eventually get one of those shorter SUPs that turn readily and fit in the tube marginally better than my old beast.
