yes this is an amazing board.....only surfed in kinda 2 ft max at the moment and done some long distance flat water....but its bad ass....easy to find sweet spot....on par with the paddleability of my whopper, just as easy to catch waves....doesnt buck, but pops u back up friendly style... but then it spins on a dime and surfs like a champ......more than i expected and i'm stoked on it.

Flame suit on...
No big need to go over 30 inches wide!!! Unless learning, or fishing and walking around in circles on her !!

I am riding an 8'6 X 32 custom. Rips in the waves. Reckon I could go to 8' X 32".
Very comfortable to ride.
What size is your board Simondo?

Mine is about 29" wide I think.
But the shortest board I have paddled is a 9'0 Mana I think. Just checked, they are meant to be 29"5/8 wide, which I thought was enough.
However, I fully concede that extra width gives stability, floatation, etc.
I think unwritten Rule No.1 is still "the winner is person who is having the most fun!"

And when I think about, if I went Sub 9, I would probably need the width and extra foam !

I tried to paddle Kristi's 8'0 once. It sank !! I'm about 88 kegs.
But it was built for her, and she must be around 45kgs?

I reckon it's horses for courses Simondo, these boards get first timers, people without Power Balance Bands, people with 'big bones' out into waves and riding. Hoping the 10'5 will be an awesome summer board for rough and tumble Waratah Bay for anyone that wants to have a go.

I'm also getting the 8'5 x 29" Pro for when it cleans up a little in 'gulp' the greeny aqua colour - was the only one available. Feels a bit like one of those colours they do Nissan Micra's in to match your nail polish - everyone I've spoken to swears it looks great in real life....

Great to hear! Got a 10'5" WP on order really went back and forth vs. the 8' 10" but figured with my far less than perfect local surf and at my size I'd get far more use out of a longer board.

I'm also coming off of a Whopper, which is really nice on late drops and stable in chop but @ 34" wide pretty slow on the wave and not much of a glider or paddler.
