My one day off and was down the beach at 6.30 am, wind was already up cross offshore but really strong (god i hate the wind) Me and Robdog still went out and got a few good ones each... its whole new world suping in heavy winds the paddle near kept blowing out of my hand it was tricky taking off backside into the cross shore wind, but still got a couple good long lefts, hope its not to windy next week, wonder how the 9 6" will go in windy conditions compared to the big kalama, the bigger board is a handfull in real strong wind as the rails keep lifting out of the water when facing the way of the wind

Brooko & Robdog,
What is the western end of Bridgy like on a south westerly / westerly wind?
(I'm guessing it should be protected from the wind)

Yes you are right Ian, but the closer to the west end the smaller the swell as it has to wrap around the cape. We had a couple of good waves and a good work out paddling against the wind.

Saw some great sup surfing being done at Point Danger and Drainpipe at Torquay on saturday morning. Did not have my sup board with me, but it was a great education watching about 8 sup surfers getting some good long rides.

After watching surf movies all week I was so looking forward to the weekend. Unfortunately, it was too windy for a surf but a pleasant 24 C so I paddled to a protected cove and went fishing instead - miles away from anyone else on earth - magic. You should have seen the looks I got from the locals when I paddled my board from the Jetty loaded up with my 4 rods and crap. Anyway, I'm glad I went out cause the fish were on - I caught about 7 Australian Salmon including a stonker (a fricken big monster).

The wind really kills supping for me in the surf - I'm pretty cautious and I've noticed how easilly the wind can lift the bugger - I'm too worried about the board hitting me or someone else in the surf in those conditions. I guess the moral of the story is - improvise.

If I had the right wind, a support crew and someone else to go with I would have done a "hellmen downwinder" Maybe, brooko, you should think about getting a sail on it, plan a downwinder, or even a fishing rig setup for those sort of days. That's the great thing about the boards - very versatile.

Hehehe yeah I dont mind a bit of wind and waves but only if it involves a sail
Yes its Margs. I didnt go out because I didnt have any gear with me. Plus I probably wouldnt have gone out anyway
It was Millers wedding weekend down there.
Brooko or Miller could probably help me out here but its kinda hard to tell how big it really was. Im guessing at least 3 times overhead. Or in windsurfing terms Id probably say easy over mast high. And for all those non windsurfing folks out there a mast is commonly 4 metres long
I do have other photos I can post.

This is a place up the road where you can somewhat get a cleaner, less windy and protected wave in a southerly.
Check out the wave out the back!

And here is another photo of Mains taken the same day
