today at the wa sup gathering i was on a shorter board than what i was use too, a 11 footer was what i was on today but im use to a 11'6er, but it got me thinking is shorter better, for some things and worse for other things just like is longer better for some things, say a 10-11footer compared to a 11'6-12footer etc

really enjoyed the shorter board today dispite all the falls, just would like to hear some more thoughts about size

just started riding my 10'6 when its clean rather than my 11'6
at 90kg i sink the small one a bit but it rides heaps better on a wave but it paddles around the line up like i'm on a greezey log.
it makes the 11'6 paddle like a dream but surf like a pig
horses for different coarses
i'd love to have a go on a smaller fish style shaped board
just got to rob another bank again to get the funds to buy one

i'm keen to get a board for my son he just turned 4 and he paddles me around when i sit down and hold him up
anyone out there know of any crew making really small boards

i just bought my first board . its only 9'8 starboard . first time out was a bit tricky but since then getting better . i went for the shorter one so that it might turn better . probably doesnt catch wave as easy as 12 footer but at least i can turn it once i do . had a few good small days on it now and looking for more size to test my skills

How about a nice little 7'er (blue) or an 8'er (red) for your son.

Wouldn't it be great to weigh next to nothing..

Those little sup boards were made by Foote surfboards Hawaii.

It kinda reminds me of when I knew Mark (Pederson) from Sydney..Ricky (Vandertorn) from Merimbula..

.. and even Jason (Polakow) from Geelong.

..oh yeah..even Kai (Hopf) from Syndey...Jeeez..He's now a big bugger!..

I knew all these windsurfing greats when they were no bigger than the kid in those pics..

..and they windsurfed on nothing more than a short surfboard with a sail on it.

Yes..I must be an old bugger....maybe cos I am..

thanks dj the grom is excited
i'll have to find a shaper to make one
i wish i had one when i was that young
come to think of it i lived on a farm out west and the biggest dam you wouldn't fit the board in it and paddle around
to dry

grom loves the pics he grabbed his boggey board and a big wooden spoon and is paddling around on the lounge room floor lol

Starboard have just released a 7'2 SUP for Kids.

There is a bit of Info in the new catalogue which I have scanned for you - not sure what they are talking about when they say it is fun to use in the cable Park??

At this stage we wont be bringing any in for stock but if anyone is super keen on getting one let us know and we will get you one.
