hi. i made the mistake of jumping from a 11.6 nsp to a 10 mactavish and finding it realy hard to stay upright. been looking at the naish 10 manna or perhaps the 9.5. is there anybody out there in sup world interested in a swap or could give me some advice on the problem.ta spencer
Stick at it spencer. I'm sure after a few more sessions on the 10' you will have forgotten what the problem was. I just dropped down to a shorter board too and panicked for the first couple of surfs but now its great. Hang in there! ![]()
Hi Spencer,
Suggest you stick at it and go through the process of getting into a new comfort zone.
(alternative is to upsize again??)
IMO. It could be a large leap from the NSP to the 10 footer but we dont' know what surf/SUP experience you've had...
froggo
Stick with it......a couple of months ago I went from 12ft to a 9'11, it was hard at first but after a couple of surfs you do adjust and wont look back. My big board hasn't come down from the rack since!
Hey Spencer, will have to catch up some time, I go to carlton some arvos after work. Keep at it with the smaller board mate, I started SUP a couple of months ago on a 10'2 7s Uberfish, still get the wobbles in rough water but getting the hang of it.
Cheers, Deano
hey spencer why don't you take the centre fin out of the nsp and put it in the mctav, you can also try a "power balance band"
Hey spencer. I would suggest using your paddle more to help you balance. Also you should go out and just paddle around and forget about catching waves for a few sessions. And stop kneeing on ya board and stand up till you dont fall of anymore. Its called stand up paddling not kneeling paddling. Falling is part of the learning process spence
its not all bad crusin at least when spencer is busy falling off he won't be dropping in on everyone !
I'd say stick at it also. Maybe try sticking a bigger fin on it.
I've got a 10'6 that I love and I've also got 9'4" that has mostly sat there with cobwebs on cause of the same reason you talk about. My 10'6" has got some damage - again. So I took out the 9'4" again today and surfed a spot by myself for a few hours. Although it's tippier than the 10'6" I'm finding the challenge of it fun and rewarding, kind of like learning all over again, and I'm getting a lot more wins on it.
I know one or both these boards are going to go, but for the time being I'll hang on to both.
