But ive never been so was wondering if anyone on here (i see alot of posts regarding Fiji so seems like a good place to ask) has any advice. Ie were is good, were too avoid, were would i find a place that hires SUP boards etc etc?

I have seen all the adds and brochures online but would like to hear some first had experiences from people on here. I was thinking of doing the resort thing but I know ill want to go for a sup when im there as well as relaxing with a cocktail or 12

Any thoughts? cheers guys, would be very appreciated

As you are living in WA, why not Bali ?

I love Fiji but thinking of costs and less travelling.

Go Fiji over Bali - Lots of resorts in Fiji if that's what you are after but expensive. Bali is an over conjested sh1thole - some will disagree but unfortunately it is.

I agree. In saying that, a mate of mine just got off plane from Bali this morning and told me he stayed in the grouse villa in Seminak with 24hr butler, plunge pool, etc and paid $5500 for 7 nights (accom. only). Dinner in Seminak cost him around $300 for 2. I guess it depends where you stay.

agreed. bali has never been high on my list of places too go. it just realy doesnt interest me. yes, it is cheap but you get what you pay for. I just figured Fiji would be a nice alternative and the travel distance doesnt realy phase me.

I went to Bali in 88,95,98 & twice in 99 and loved it - but I won't go back for several reasons. I went to Fiji with Mrs and kids last August and fell in love with the place. Fijian people are so accomodating and friendly.
We stayed at Treasure Island which is 30 min boat ride from mainland. we will always include Treasure Is in our future stays as it gives you the true island experience.
We checked out Castaway Is and Plantation Is on a day trip to check out for future stays. Castaway is expensive but bloody nice. Plantation looks great and well protected from winds in Musket Cove.
If you are looking for a week away at one resort with plenty to do, go Plantation.
I couldn't see anybody being disappointed with Plantation. Musket Cove is ideal for SUPing around. At low tide there is a sandbar about a km out you could paddle to for fun. See Lisa at www.walusports.com for Sup hire as she lets out Naish Nalu's with viewing window. I think she leaves a Sup at the resort permanently now.
Post pics when you get back - cheers.

I had 2 weeks on Taveuni last month. Hired a house called "vale sekoula" ( its got a website with prices etc) right on the beach with its on pool etc. Kitchen the whole 9 yards. Couldn't recomend it enough. Comes with a cleaner who will cook if required and her Hubby who is the maintenance man "Buna N Sepo"
Definitly waves there straight in front of the house for a fun Sup if you are keen. Only prob is getting the board there. WIll take a inflateable next time I think.

Have a look at Mana Island www.manafiji.com. You can hire a SUP from enquiries@waluwatersports.com and they will deliver to the island. There is both a wave and calm water paddling. Check out testimonials and feedback for Mana and Walu Water Sports on this site
