There are a few esturies / lakes on the NSW far south coast that do this when the mouth has been closed for ages, water level rises and the council open them up with an excavator. Gotta dodge the logs, etc. that are heading out to sea. Best done with an old board or a shark biscuit. The grommets love it
I remember doing this a few times as a grommie when DY Lagoon burst or the council let it out. Don't know how we didn't end up with crazy infections,some of the stuff you would see floating by was not healthy!
On the up side it would always create super fun banks out the front for a couple of weeks after.
