Christened the new paddle yesterday and I was very impressed with the performance... i was changing from a homemade, heavy, power paddle ..
My first thoughts were 'OMG what have i done, this has no power compared to my homemader' (which had a much bigger blade and a shaft as stiff as iron).....but after a short while, i realised i needed to adopt a total new paddling teqhniue and within 15 mins, i was dialled in and catching waves..(even from standing starts)
For me the paddle comes into its element in those last couple of stokes before you drop in and whilst on the wave. It's incredibly light and manouverable - making paddle transitions effortless which has taken my sup level up another a notch.
Anything was going to feel light compared to my homemader, BUT when i compared it with the Starboard carbon paddle, i was shocked...it was half the weight with loads more flex
, you can really feel the flex when paddling and i've been told this is a good thing...for performance and injuries.
The oval shape shaft and carbon ergo T grip make it very comftable in the hands and effecient to use.
After 1 sesh,All in all, happy customer, gr8 paddle.

Not sure if there available in Perth yet, but i believe they are working on it.

but why would i want a smaller blade paddle ?
.....s'pose you'd get used to it though.
