It's a funny angle to see it from but I think he just ducked the lip of a breaking wave. Hard none the less but easier than actual whitewater. If you are in the right spot to get under it in small waves maybe not as impossible as it looks particularly on a point nosed low volume board.

piros was having a go at, but i think he was going for a more standup approach.

the first time he tried he said nearly broke his neck. he said you have to tuck your chin down. he will probaby post himself

looking at the vid it's cool, but i reckon it could go horribly wrong and you could be spattlered all over your board doing some serious knee damage

yeah on low volume boards in small surf its actualy pretty easy to do that as the lip goes over you you just duck it and come out the back but small waves only and low volume boards where your ankles are getting wet

i tried it on the whopper and found out how hard a board can be when you land back first on it

i will stick to the fail saff way JUMP at the last minute

I don't mean any disrespect to Kai.. but.. There's waves and there's waves.. I'd like to see him do that on a wave the same size but at somewhere like Bells..

.. Also IMO timing is everything with moves like that anyone trying it needs to get it right or find themselves doing something that if filmed might be shown on Funniest Home Videos..

Tried something similar with no luck. Came up only to find my board had snapped in half. Long paddle in.
