this board is at the airport and will be the board that travis will paddle. we all had a go on it thursday morning. fast and very stable, kick turns and it surfs real good.anyone can paddle this- easy as pie. it has a different style deck scoop.its 28.5' wide and i think a 7 or 8" tail. the feedback from a few who have done this race is to have a stable board

How thick is this 12'6 DC 6 inches + or what? be interesting to know. I'm not into 12'6'' race boards but from what I see the thick (6 inch +) 12'6''s seem to be the fastest in the BOP

The Hawaii BOP is going to be huge with 200 Pro paddlers in one race and 300 paddlers in another race for everyone else.. Plus a real DW race.

Waikiki will be going off with SUP's everywhere.

finbox fins not allowed in specs ?? Is this board for Travis urethane or polystyrene foam? I can see a stringer but i know that doesn't mean anything ! BOP also means Back Of the Pack by the way.

"Fins shall be fixed in place" - this is a really strange one to work out. I am not sure why there would be any advantage using a fin box over a fixed fin. Fixed fins are too limiting and too hard to travel with.

By the way this board is polystyrene + epoxy and there is no stringer

it would be 6 inches plus a bit. the dihedral adds some volume too. one of the reasons for some width. on my 17' it's just 5" because the dihedral is massive and the litres/ volume was just getting way too much
cheers

I think the fixed fin rule means if your board has a rudder, the fin must be locked so it can't move.

That's fair enough - let's hope that is the explaination.

Sure, fixed fin means of course a fin box and not a glassed on fin.
All the production 12'6" boards(Nah Skwell, Hobie, DC, Starboard) have a fin box.
If you hate the rules(remember when you were teen), go unlimited...

Great work to both. Trav couldn't have achieved this without good equipment that he and the boys have been testing with Dale for a while. The DC12'6 couldn't gone that quick with a mere mortal on board.

Great to see both on the world stage. Hopefully it means a few orders for Dale, Lahui Kai got a boost from their results it would be great to see Dale receive the same.

Anyone know a good publicist?

I forgot I had some footage in my camera of travis board when dale tried it just before sending it to hawai.
The bottom line is that this board is super easy and very user friendly.
Thanks to Pirro to lend his voice for the soundtrack
I don't know how to directly put a Youtube image on the topic so just click the link

And what a cool soundtrack!
The NoFX version of a famous french song called "Aux Champs Elysées" by Joe Dassin, my french heart bumped into my thorax...
Well, two Oz guys in the top quartet, we're far from that.
I tried the 26" of that board and found it a bit tippy, 28,5 seems more reasonnable, and wish my Joe Bark 18'6"*26 could gain 2"...maybe I'll put an outrigger

I know doc I love this soundtrack
I can't help listening to it. Reminds me home (not that I really need it ) Too bad the words won't be understood here because that's how I felt when I tried this board.
The boys at WOO will get the file of the board this week so they can produce it in France next week.
The same goes for the 14' , they got yesterday the file of a 28"1/2 wide wich makes it so much easier. I tried the board last week in very challenging conditions and it was still very stable.

Luckily I am a huge NoFx fan. Have been since I was 17, have every album, been to see them live maybe 8 times. Moshed, stage dived, speaker stack dived etc etc. Now in my old age I stay at the back and gently nod my head and tap my foot careful not to hurt myself.

Anyway the words to the song as above in English are as below: Yes it's a great song and they have many. They have to, they are usually less than a minute long.

Punks not dead, Bleeeeh!

"Champs Élysées (English Version)"

I was walking down the avenue and my hart wanted something unknown(new)
I felt like saying good day to anybody
To anybody and that was you, and I said something (anything)
It was enough to me to talk to you to make you mine

At Champs Élysées, at Champs Élysées
If it's raining or if sun is shining, if it's noon or midnight
You have anything you want at Champs Élysées

You told me "I have a meeting in the basement with the fools
who live with guitars in their hands from evening till morning"
So I joined you, we sang and we danced
But we never even thought of kissing or hugging.

At Champs Élysées, at Champs Élysées
If it's raining or if sun is shining, if it's noon or midnight
You have anything you want at Champs Élysées
