I seen Kai supin at the BOP and was by far the best i have seen to date on a SUP.
Apart from natural talent and youth, he also rides a board that is geared towards genuine high performance surfing, IMO. It has a decent amount of rocker combined with a low area/volume tail and I'd imagine lowish volume rails.
Check out how much easier it is for Kai to turn in a tight arc compared to particularly, the 2 French dudes, on their flatter and fuller planshape designs. Sure you can get the flatter boards to change direction quickly but the turn either gets flatter or becomes a 'pivot' turn off the tail like in the other video on here at the moment.
