Yeah like the shape , nose is sweet - really curious about the channelling , can I ask you post up how she goes in surf lace? .... I'd be interested to read that.

dale has done a couple and the boys are frothing over them. he himself reckons they're the go too. absolute pain in the butt to do on eps foam and epoxy so they cost.

the standing area and to the tail was hand shaped flat leaving proportionally more volume from the feet on. left the nose a bit fuller then i have before.more to gain then lose have a bit of width up there

mac, didn't have time to surf it, just quickly put it in the creek and changed the back fin to a the jm centre fin and left the side sunny's. better put that in the archives for me mac its the photo doing that to the back

thin in the tail, but it actually paddles pretty good in the flat for its size

Looks nice. I used to have channels similar to that on my windsurf boards circa 1988 or so.

Always wondered how they might work on a SUP.

that is a wicked set of channels, reminds me of my cousins Darby from the 80s with channels so sharp you could cut yourself on them.

I'm sure they were being done like that all over the country, but I know of a few shapers all around Currumbin doing the same things with these deep channel bottoms, Jeff Darbs was one of them.

I can remember the whole channel era, back in the day I had a col smith single fin, my cousin had a Darby another mate made his own (his channels btw were crooked and soon after he retired his planner lmao). Ahhh memories.

I always reckoned channel bottoms worked well and would imagine that SUP will be a little ripper.

Wasn't it Terry Fitzgerald that was doing channel bottoms like this? ( I may be wrong )

I had a 6'3" Murray Bourton shaped chanel bottom that was my alltime favourite when I was about 15. So much drive and speed. Definitely a good idea on a SUP for a hollow point break. Thats a great looking board Mark. Should be able to get those chanels firing on all six cylinders. Also refreshing and far more interesting to see photos of a custom made board in it's natural environment of a local shapers factory rather than pics of another pop out 'model' being popped out of bubble wrap.

DJ Fitz was doing a drifter (big centre fin with small side fins) way before anyone thought of the thruster. Col Smith is credited with putting channels on boards first, but maybe that was all a Tracks magazine conspiracy, does this mean this should now be moved to the general section and shoe horned in between the contrails and the aliens???

Board design was moving so fast in those days I think compared to now. I was watching surfers journal the other night and they were talking to McTavish and he was saying as soon as a board hit the water it was out of date.
