whats happening to the comp coverage we used to get on the breeze.

noosa for example- stuff all, no photos, no stories. i hear the surf race had an epic finish, but not one photo of the whole race.

is it because - this stuff is going to mags, web sites etc now


-the big name brands didn't win


-people are worry about a backlash or something


-apathy

any thoughts

personally i think the difference is some post here for the stoke and some post with something to gain......

if you look at the last 6 months and go through the threads and posts there is a definite trend

not going to be a popular reply......gee there is a suprise. But in my and other peoples opinion this forum is heading a certain way. Just because im the only one saying it doesnt mean im the only one thinking it

one of the best threads of late was Downwinder's story on his hawaii efforts. All just good fun, yes he talked about the brands he likes, but he's not sponsered or affiliated with a brand or mag etc... the number of demo days and board reviews in the STAND UP PADDLE SURFING section far outways the general discussion of surfing and racing. Like Lacey said the coverage of events lately has been bugger all unless you click on a link to another site.....which is in direct contridiction of the forums rules. If they are happy the way its going change the rules and make the moderating consistant across the board or dont change them, inforce them in a consistant way across the board. The mod's are just as much to blame as those braking the rules. To me seems like 50% here have their fingers in some pie.....

Oliver, your not that dumb, you know whats what and can see exactly what im talking about. Call me out, doesnt bother me. Will it be well received, not likely cause the forum has passed the tipping point and has a bias from a larger group.

I think you are paranoid. There are always plenty of good pics posted on here. I've noticed that some of them have got watermarks, sure there are some people pimping stuff when they can get away with it - they all get found out and outed pretty quickly.

I guess I don't really care about comps cause they've always been about drinking pepsi and eating another double down KFC burger.

One thing I've noticed of late is the complaints from sup'ers after the Noosa and Malfunction events and not about the conditions.

It must be time to go it alone!

time for some newbie phothogs to have a crack at it.


i really did used to look forward to those race or comp shots and individual stories and the breeze isn't half as good witout this coverage. the mag writeups/photos are too bland and obviously can only be given so much space.

would downwinders story make a mag at that lenght even though it's the best sup read to date imo

The part that confuses me is that the race sponsors are not making the effort to provide pics and results. It is afterall another great chance to reinforce that they sponsored it and to get as much bang for your buck as possible.

Most race sports make a point of having at least the results in full up that day or the day after, it's kind of important to even those who came last not only first.

Haha, I dont think I will either but I rest assured Oliver if I was spending your money made the hard way by inventing new KFC burgers I'd get the results for you. Wouldn't even cost a chocolate thick shake or large fries.

I think seabreeze should send DJ to all events!

Wadda ya reckon? for each event we all chip in $5 and we send DJ. (cheaper than a magazine and we wouldn't have to wait or rely on inaccurate or incomplete results from the organisers)

We would get loads of pics (during the event) and results right down to last place.

PS - I would have posted some snaps of recent events but my lumix died on me half way through the first heat at Noosa! after a 2.5 week holiday I came home with 6 photos and video of one wave!

I did post a photo of Pete "Bruno" Meyer late last night after an extremely long day of races at Woronora (taken on a wobbly iphone - wobbly cause the operater had a belly full of beer!). There were plenty of people there with cameras though so hopefully some more pics will be posted soon.

I reckon the theory about being slagged off as a pimp has a lot to do with the reduction of pics. Having your enthusiasm to show what your up to questioned and/or written off isn't a nice feeling.
I think forums are the appropriate forum to show off.
