Had a surf Phillsway this arve and there was what I would imagine to be a couple of Southern Rights basking about 300 metres out off the main beach. Big Hooers, Bloody awesome but bloody cold.

There was some nice size tonight.

Kristi saw them too they were around for about 2 hrs.

looks like the swell is here for a while yet and more days of glassy offshores.

we're stuck with OG but i would hate to think what some other places were going off like tonight.

Have been fotunate enough to have the last week and a half off. One of the few advantages of being a teacher. Have had waves just about every day ranging from gnarly back beach to some classic novelty sessions inside the bay. Cant rememeber a better run of surf, but on the flip side cant remember it being much colder.

Had a surf yourway last week and got shadowed by a pod of dolphins for about twenty minutes.Seriously inquisitive. Have'nt seen anything like that outside of Northerrn New South. Classic!!

Whales at the Wye.

A very special place in my family. My ancestors settled the place, divided it, built the pub then sold off all of the land to drink in the pub. Great Irish logic. Actually they did a whole lot more for the town. One of them built most of it.

There is a path (Paddys Path) dedicated to my Grandmas Cousin that runs around the hill. We had a huge reunion at its opening. All of the family history and axes etc are in the Apollo Bay museum.

I spent most of my childhood before we moved to QLD in Wye River, I love the place! Such fond memories of a place now called Harrington Cairn.

Another cracker day on the surf coast and surrounds. In the water by eight this morning, had to scrape the ice off my windscreen. Surf smaller than yesterday but still pumping! A pair of Southern Rights passed by quite close, possibly the same ones from Phillsway yesterday. These guys did a left turn at the Heads and started off up the bay. Suns out and its a classic, just wish my feet would thaw out.

Here's an article in the local rag. It goes to say that Mr Len Gibson got a good view of some killer whales on his SUP.

I will vouch for the killer whale/orca that Lenny saw. I was over on the other break by myself, further out and pretending to be paddling out but didn't want to get too close. I thought the dorsal fin was a periscope of a submarine it was that long. It came up a couple of times as it went past and I saw its smiley face. Research says that it was a long fined killer whale, there was also a couple of dolphins with it. Amazing, and SUP's give the best vantage point. Guys in the car park were all talking about it as well.
