laceys lane said...hi, got a question for you. a well know shaper of many craft( not dc) reckons a fin right back will lift the nose on a board, where as i fin pushed forward will lower the nose rocker, but is harder to keep straight (this when under paddling). before i heard this i found a normal surfing sup paddles like a dog with the fin back. any thoughts

cheers
I think I need more info about what you are saying here.
Can you please post a pic of the "normal surfing sup" that paddles like a dog with the fin back? Also I would like to see the lenght of fin box as well thanks.
How far has "a well known shaper of many craft" moved the fins?
What size were they? Were they as exagerated as that "weird fin" on my 12'6?
(I go to extremes so there can be no mistake in feed back)
What size board/s are you testing?
I can only pass on what I have found from experience in testing the boards & fins I have.....that 12'6 was keeping up with the 20' over a short 100m sprint.....if what your saying is true, wouldnt the 12'6 be an absolute dog with a fin that far back?
According to the "well known shaper of many craft".....wouldn't I have to be hanging 10 while paddling that 12'6 to keep the nose down with a fin that far back!
Check it out......how far back do I need to hang it before it becomes a dog?
This is the outline of the 12'6...it has the tail of my wave board below so it is a "normal sup" in that regard.
