Has anyone shaped or seen a sup that's got the same outline as a wakeboard or one of Tomo's vanguard surfboards?

Simon, check out the Simsups in the US, similar but could be done with a modern twist and Tomo it...

More correctly, the outline of a wake skate - no boots.

I won't be impressed with all this SUP spinning around (surface turns) stuff until someone manages a kick flip!

Similar in style; I think Noel in Lennox had a tomo shape ages ago and posted it up, it sparked my interest then , but I never followed through with it.
Just curious to see if anyone's taken the same philosophy and applied to to a sup and if it performed any good!

Closest I've seen are those riviera and the V 4. Still look a bit wide and thick though.

bit of time on my hands at lunch; 10 minutes on the aps to see if the Litres would work (for 90 Kg's).
Could be a goer with a lot more refinement???

Hi lookie lookie,

I have been thinking along the same lines of this for a while, i put together a bit a of a plan in aku shaper today, while mucking about. The more I look at this design the more it makes sense, just the issue of needing to ride then longer eg 8ft, does this kind of negate the good qualities of this design?

I am part way through a more simsup style shape but this vanguard idea keeps making me wonder. Only other prob is the tomo has a narrow width and sups tend to need that extra width. Would the square ends on the board provide more padling stability and allow the shape to be an inch or 2 narrower?

My aku shape is so weird looking that AKU won't even show me the shaping room preview! (might need a restart)

Cheers Chris

Ill be Defiantly looking at all the different variables; Will be a fun project.
Had the best fun and great surf riding the 5'3 x 17 on the weekend which stoked the interest again

I've mucked around with fishes and narrow type tails in sups and I think the outline and width in the nose/tail (if done right) of a "tomo style" sup will balance out the board & work a treat. My last sup board specs were 9'0 x 31 x 4! So going down to something around the 8'0 x 27 x 3 3/4 mark will be interesting
I'm going to play around on the "libra" maxi pad a bit more before I annoy the guys at deep!
Post some pics of the sims up once its done.

Saw a radical smaller type of those boards at Deus ex Machina in Bali.

This is the nose of a 8 ft hybrid Mal 24" wide I just got made took the out line off a jimmy Lewis kwad 8"7 x29 it has a very wide tail and nose leaving a parallel rail similar to vanguard although no wear mere as egaturated it works well to do a sup for 80 kg 7 "11 x 27 with 23" nose and tail at the tips would be interesting if you could get your rail down

Yes! They work great and meant to be ridden 2" narrower. More at facebook.com/theoriginalsimsup
