Terrific post with brilliant surfing. These are the guys that paddle out prone then sit on their boards and jump up when they see the wave then wobble around and paddle into the wave. They are usually on really small boards and rip bags and it looks fantastic.

Is it stand up paddle surfing though when the only time you use the paddle is to get into the wave and then help you to turn your board?

This is a serious question and I'm not judging just asking for opinions.

Mine is that if I was their age and had their ability I would use a short board. You can get deeper in the barrel and work the face inside.

The Vaz bros do amazing things but to me it's like driving a modified shortened Rolls Royce in a formula one race, it's doable but why?

If they did the whole thing standing up on larger boards then that's different then because you're actually driving a stock Rolls Royce in its own class in challenging conditions. This is just an opinion and certainly not a condemnation of the fantastic stuff they do. Opinions and thoughts would be appreciated because I must be missing something
