Finally i can report I bought a 2017 14x26 sonic . I have always loved a dugout but I was uming and arhing over that and the new starboard allstar which in my opinion this year is a much better board then the 2017 allstar having ridden both the 2017 and 2018 allstar . The pros for the allstar were I could step back turn it no problems at 26 wide and the glide on the flat was amazing ( can't even imagine how good the sprint will be ) but as I say I love a dugout and Saturday just confirmed I have bought the right board for my needs . My passion is glassy 3 ft on my allwave with no one else out but what I experienced on the weekend rated right up there with that , I couldn't believe how fast this thing is on bumps but step back turns will need a lot more practice with that pin tail .The board is so much better then my ability it's crazy but the few rides I did get were some of the most exhilarating rides I have had in a long time . The speed of the swell on a bump with a big pit at the bottom and your nose pushing into the wave in front is something my poor children have had drilled into them but nay I feel they aren't really getting what I am telling them . I had maybe 3 or 4 real runs over 11 km and I am sure they could hear me from shore but wow wow wow my jaw is still hurting from all the smiling ( and child ear bashing) I did . I am STILL on a high and can't wait until the next downwinder ( apparently it's even more fun if you stay upright) . I get what the fuss is all about now and I also realise that it is nowhere as easy as people make it look in the videos cheers for all the tips and right ups Kris ....did I mention I love my new board

Onya Krist and good to hear about the sonic. Some ppl will look at you funny when your surfing a canoe probably because the hazards that it brings in the line up but I like the fun factor and the challenge. Had my 1st dw weeks a go and I'm looking forward to the next session. If dw wasn't a logistical issue I'd be into it
