think I went the same day as you dj and saw this nice foil though I didn't know about the matching board, looks good.
whats the combo price on that foil?

I can't believe Naish would go to so much trouble releasing this only to find that 'no one' is going to be able to use it.. 
How would you normally use it? Walk the board out to deeper water and paddle from there? How much speed do you need before it lifts on the foil? Would you need to be in a down-winder? How much swell/wave would you need to get it moving fast enough? Obviously a normal surf wave would have to be big or else it would be too shallow. And can we assume that if you hit something solid (reef/sand/boogie boarder) it is the end of the foil and/or board?
Am quietly confident that DJ is very soon to post a vid of himself......absolutely styling on this board

Looks like you're not a fan of the new WestWorld tv series.. .. and I think you need therapy..
therapy has never done much for me in the past........my problem is more like hay fever.......slightly allergic to overly glossy product launches
The guys and girls up here have been using theirs for a week now at a secret training ground somewhere on the Sunshine Coast I have yet been able to infiltrate this covert operation but I am sure footage will emerge as soon as they master the flight of the foil.....I have also heard the blooper real is great

I've heard that 7 knots is the magic speed when the foil creates lift.

It would be good to see what the result would be in a bay downwinder or a downbreezer (~15 knots). A bit more real world use instead of perfect Hawaiian ocean swells and super athletes riding. If you can get some speed and lift in those conditions then a SUP foil could be a good thing to have.
At the moment a full carbon kite foil and board can be had for around $3000 so Naish had better do some serious thinking about the premium price attached to a SUP and an alloy mast if they want the product to have much of a future.
It's mainly a marketing/vanity thing for Naish I should think. You've got a superstar athlete who loves to surf/SUP foil as your figurehead, and probably is the best in the world at it, so you'd better have a foil in your range. Plus, this is probably the first time for a while that Naish has beaten Starboard to market with something new. I shouldn't think they expect to sell many. But that probably doesn't matter. They'll be a few kids with rich parents who will take it to the next level in time, if they don't decapitate themselves first.
But it's nice to see something new, even if I'd rather buy a UL board rather than one of these, if I had this kinda money sitting around. Well done Naish. Now can we please have an UL SUP Naish?
I don't think I should get one. With my predisposition for cruising too close to rocks it could be a tradgedy waiting to happen.

This is exactly my point.
On the world stage, a very small amount of fulltime professional suppers can ride one.What makes the average punter in Australia, think they will be able to ride it?
Try one and find out. Maybe it's impossible for the average guy in average conditions. Maybe it isn't.
