.SUP at the Whalebone

The Race:- Approximately 4km ending at The Whalebone, Isolators, Cottesloe.

The Date:- 14th July 2012, (Unless weather is poor and we postpone till 15th)

Time :-Briefing at 9.00am. With start at 9.30

The Course:- Plan A is 4.3km race from Sandtracks to Isolators, ( other options depending on the weather, include either a paddle from Swanbourne to Isolators or a paddle starting and finishing at Isolators.

Entry:- $25 (does not include T shirt, which can be bought separately).

Classes:-Mens - 14' Fixed Rudder
Mens - 12'6" (all boards welcome Race, Wave, all rounders)
Ladies - Open

Prizes:-Over $500 worth of prizes spread across the three classes, supplied by Starboard SUP and Stand Up Surf Shop.

General feedback was that $50 was to much, so we negotiated a deal that we do it for $25 with no tshirt.

I will speak to Dunny about getting it changed on line.

I think some people have already entered and they will get their $25 back.

There is a possibility of some cash prizes as well, will update on that shortly.

Great exposure for the sport especially if it finishes at Isolators.
Allows for plenty of spectators to sit on the hill from Dutchies to Isolators.
Wish I could be there.

Have heard from Peter Dunn that the organisers will also be puting in some cash and trophies to add to the prizes from the Stand Up Surf Shop and Starboard SUP. Amount will depend on number of entrants.

Yes, entries will be accepted on the day before briefing at 9.00am.

We have finished there a few times before there is a keyhole that has been ok for finishing in.

Yup - was hard work too. I really should do training for this type of paddling so it doesnt hurt so much everytime! A few photos below, Luke took some as well of all contestants at the end.

While the longboarders bobbed patiently waiting for the small sets to roll through it was near perfect conditions for the Whale Racers.
It was a great turn out with 11 keen paddles entering the race.
After a water start at Sandtracks the lead was quickly taken by Marcus Tardrew and Galvo holding their usual paddle battle for most of the 4km race. Ben Tardrew kept a steady pace on their tails and Michelle England and Cam Mckay rounded up the top 5 a short way behind.

The Final Results were-

1st- Marcus Tardrew 1st- Cameron Mckay 1st- Michelle England
2nd-Ben Tardrew 2nd- Rob Porzie 2nd- Violetta Zirra
3rd- Brett Hall 3rd- Lance Whiteman 3rd- Monica De Aranjo
