Hey guys, we have a lot of people asking for a social StandUP gathering so we are running the first Sydney Summer SUPS (StandUP paddle sessions) next Sunday-

December 28th, Long Reef Beach from 4pm.

Everyone is welcome! There will be both flat water (lagoon) and surf sessions going on.

The StandUP school demo trailer will be in attendance with demo boards from Naish, Oxbow and PSH.

Sausage sizzle afterwards.

We even expect a visit from a well known pro-surfer and 2 times world champion.

For more details and updates, check this thread.

PS: Don't sweat it, if you cant make it, we plan to run a number of these through summer.

sounds like a great event AA ..... ashame I'm over 1hr away as I'm around the Cronulla area

It doesn't seem to be taking off as quickly as it is on the Northern beaches ,as I've only seen a small number of SUP'S around .
That's why it makes it hard for me to do more downwinders ,as I've only done one and that was with DJ at the Mambo .I'm really keen to do more but would rather do it it a group.

Cheers

Excellent. About time somebody put in the effort to organise something like this. Well done AA.

I'll be there with (jingle) bells on. Might bring the rest of the fam down too.

Boylos, 1 hour drive out of your life is nothing for 2+ hours in the surf with friends - you're sounding very soft. The way the weather has been here (in Melbourne) lately, I'd be happy to drive double that distance, there and back, for a good day out.

Desperate times - desperate methods as the saying goes!

BTW love the poster AA

As wrong as this sounds - I'd be happy for her to sit on the front of my Stonker any day.

Stuey.... will you have the perpetrator - sorry penatrator - there for the event?

Thanks Casso, we have talked about it for too long - its time for action?
And 'yes' it is definitely a family event - the lagoon is perfect for mum and the kids!

Sinclair Black (3rd in the first Honolua) is down from Coffs so look out for some 'stylin' on the water.

even though we will have the PENETRATOR

For sure, but might have to rename it for a family event though!

Definitely sounding soft BOYLOS! Mate, if its is a southerly you can do a down-winder from Cronulla and miss all that traffic. Think of all the tolls you would save!

Maybe the next one should be over your way!?

yeh yeh I'm soft !!!!!

Know its just unfortuate that I work most weekends and it's starting at 4pm !

Good idea AA a downwinder from cronulla ,hate to turn round and go back into a head wind!

I think with your setup AA , you would attract a lot of attendtion at Cronulla Beach and around the bay areas as it really hasn't taken off yet over this way .

I'll do my best to make it to one of your sessions ,as it sounds like your 'll be doing a few over the summer.

Cheers

Should make it a bit earlier start Andrew so some of your northern neighbours can make the trip down. I'm fully booked out with lessons in the morning but may be able to get down after lunch

Hey guys, hope everyone had a great Xmas! We certainly did!

Sunday looks like a cracker with a top of 29 degree's.
The wind will be from the NE as will the 1.5m swell.

Long Reef is fairly protected from the N'Easter as is the lagoon.

We will base ourselves at the Southern end of the car park where we can put in at the lagoon or the ocean.

I will have the StandUP school DEMO trailer with boards from Naish, Oxbow and Paddle Surf Hawaii. We will also have some instructors on hand with some tips and guidance.

Sausage sizzle after and maybe some beverages. Bring the 'Esky' if you plan on hanging around.

See you there.

What an awesome afternoon/evening! A great turn out and everyone was stoked to be there. It was great to meet some new people and share the buzz.

A little 15 minute storm in the middle but other than that, perfect weather - couldn't have asked for better. There were some nice little one footers breaking at the lagoon entrance - perfect for the beginners yet still fun for the more advanced riders.

Here are a few piccys:

Lots of board swapping to try out different designs

Fun little one footers

Family fun in the lagoon

Great still water practice conditions

Looks like a fabulous day.

Wish we could have made it but Jervis Bay is about 3 hours away (although could have been well worth it to whack Andrew A around the head for the 50,s thing - he'll know what I'm talking about!)

Hope the next one is on the sth side of Sydney? Boylos would be happy then too!!!

Hey guys, yes it was a great day with kids, mum's, pro's, locals and Seabreezers from the Goldie and WA turning up. Except for the keg having no gas and a 5 minute rain shower, the evening was superb!

Plenty of boards to choose from and Tom came down to say g'day.

The Lagoon was the perfect spot for the beginners, kids and families

Shane and Bevan from Oxbow enjoying the scenery. We had plenty of interest from the beach with a few hopping on boards for the first time

Bevan and Matt.G from Manly Surf Schools head out for a session

What a great spot for StandUP!

Plenty of yummy boards to try!

Tom Carroll is a great ambassador for the sport - always happy to talk to anyone about StandUP.

The crew! We were pretty spread out and we had close to 20 out surfing over the afternoon and and another 6-8 on the lake.

All in all a great day representing what Paddle Surfing is all about - everyone getting into it and enoying the fun!!

Fred and Aurelie have heaps more shots, so stay tuned for some more action.

A little vid of my waves during the Sydney SUPS on the PSH 11'0" Wide All Rounder:

If you click on the clip and go into YouTube, you can "watch it in high quality"

A great board, easy to catch waves, lots of volume. A full review to come shortly.
