The Sunshine Coast SUP Club will be hosting the inaugural Ocean Addicts Power of the Paddle BOP Surf Race on the 20th of November.

$5000 in Cash and Prizes

Board Class: 12'6" or smaller.
Divisions:
Open Mens
Open Womens
Over 40's Mens
Over 40's Womens
Tag Team Relay.

The race will be live web streamed by Leaked Media on www.leakedmedia.com.au

All are welcome and the cost is $30 dollars to enter. This entitles the entrants the ability to attend all Sunshine Coast SUP Club events up until September 2012. We are taking registrations now and would appreciate early registrations to assist with planning.

Most of the top paddlers from the Gold Coast have indicated that they will be attending. Come and test your skills against them.

To register go to the following web link and follow the details.

http://www.sunshinecoastsup.com/index.php?p=1_8_OCEAN-ADDICTS-BOP

We are also organising a limited team tag race that will all race on the same production board. The tag team race will currently be limited to 12 teams (unless we get more of this board). Each team must consist of one open male, one open female and an over 40's paddler. The tag team race will be one lap each. First 12 teams to have registered members will be in the race. Hurry up and register.

When you register please send me an email to info@sunshinecoastsup.com and let me know what division you will be competing in and also if you are in the tag team race (include which team).

The festival that will be running around the race is expected to have up to 5000 people at it. It will include bands playing on the beach, Coolum Kites, Tom Wegner shaping his Alaia and hosting a demo day plus much more.
The day before will have a concert that will have "The Cruel Sea, Beautiful Girls, Xavier Rudd and many more. Come and enjoy the fun.

Here is an option of what the race might look like. It is approximately 5 laps of a 1km course. This may change on the day due to conditions.

Cheers

No 14' division Sorry. As this is the first year we are just working on the core race and will grow it from there.

We have upgraded from Rhine on a whopper to a jet ski or IRB. As we have not got the experience of Jacko or Kelly in this event and Woogie is down south, we have asked for their guidance in setting the course with the conditions on the day.

Over forties is based on the event date. If you turn 40 on the 21 of November your too young to race me .

The plan is to have a competitors meeting at 9:30am. The main race should start about 10 to 10:15. The tag team should start at about 11:15. Presentations at about 12pm with the SUP Giveaway.

Still a few spaces for teams in tag team relay. Email me on info@sunshinecoastsup.com if you have a team for this part of the day. First in gets the spots.

This is going to be huge. I have heard from crew on the Gold Coast that around 40 or more paddlers might come up. The race start will be terrific.
The whole race will be live web streamed.

There will be the individual races and tag team events.

Get your registration in asap. Click:

Here is a planned layout from the organisers.

Just went online to buy some tickets to the Golden Days festival on the day before the big race. The festival organisers are right behind our sport and want to support it on the Gold and Sunshine Coast so it would be good if as many as possible could support them or pass on their info to those who might be interested.

They are still at early bird price until next Tuesday the 1st of November.

Their website is:
