Hey guys.. and girls.. SupVic will be running a 'huge' SUP event next month and it's called.. The COREBAN Great Melbourne Paddle.

The date is Sunday 5th of December.. yes.. this time next month and the weekend after the Merimbula Corona event.

We are rapt to have Coreban on board as the main sponsor of the event and other sponsors and supporters are still being confirmed.

I will post the official poster soon with complete details of the event.. btw.. It will also be open to prone paddlers and we'll run short and long courses.

Woogie Marsh will be here on the Saturday before and on race day for free clinic's and advise for those keen to learn from our very own paddling legend.

So mark the date down as a 'don't miss event'... It's gunna be huge.. .. There'll be heaps of prize money.. prizes.. and fun to be had by all.

See ya there.. .. Bring you kids.. and bring your friends.

I'm in.

It's going to be a great event.

The main race is an 8 km paddle, so better cut down on the beers and get out on the water more!

Maybe some of the Surf Coasters will come for a drive up the highway - we can't let Cam have it all his own way!

Hey JD,

Are the races water or beach starts?

Are they straight down the coast or buoy turns?

Looks like a great event and lots of fun.

Phill, as I understand it, the race course will be conditions dependent.

If at all possible, the 8km race will be a downwinder along the coast. There is also a contingency for buoy turns in a more circular course. Starting point could be on the beach or out in the water depending once again on whether we are downwinding or circuiting, and where the ideal starting point happens to be.

The 2km race will almost certainly be buoy turns with a beach start and finish, unless the wind strength makes paddling back from the buoy turn too difficult.

So how's that for not answering your question.

Looks like this is going to be a fantastic day.
There are going to be trophies for the winners of all divisions as well a pile of prizes for place getters and random draws as well.

And Coreban are providing one of their latest SUP boards as a prize!! Everyone who paddles will be in the running to win it

Sounds great well done COREBAN on sponsoring da event. If da race is one way Downwind with good prize money in the unlimited SOLO Myself & fellow Downwinder Hux from the Sunny Coast will turn UP + plus be great to have a beer with the Victorians & yes I love a good drop of VB - Carlton Cold - Melbourne Bitter or Fosters, yes the Victorians have the best beer in Australia. Hey DW,

having the race format as a downwind run is the number one priority for Supvic,
will be doing everything we can to ensure this,
just need mother nature to come to the party here also.

The prize money on offer will be released soon and should be well worth coming down to compete for,

be great if some crew from up north made the trip down,

Cheers.

Hey DW

Whats with those beer choices? I have only ever seen one Australian in the 10 yrs I have lived here drink Fosters (although in London in was a popular drop) as for Melb bitter and Carlton cold.........ummmmmmmm VB is ok but your other choices leave me a bit bemused.

Oh well its all about personal taste though I guess!

My ultimate favourite beer is Tooheys Old. Very hard to get a good one out of da tap. Hopefully one day I’ll try a German Beer when I ever get to Germany & go to da German October festival that would be GOLD. Get picked up by a 6ft 6 Helga Blond Bomb Shell she can take me back to her place & tear me apart like a baked chook STYLING

"TheWater",

You might even luck onto a demo... (free)... But I'm pretty sure there will be hire available. Of course SUP beginners will be welcome. If you follow your nose on here, or on SUPVic.com, you will see there is a 2km race. If you're new, you will want to stay clear of the 8km format !!

So come on down, introduce yourself, and someone will hook up with you for a quick "101" session.

Assuming I'm there, I will likely have 2 boards (1 spare). I'm sure others will also have 2 boards.
(but if there are overhead waves and long walls on offer at my 'home away from home' I won't be there)

Yep the 2km paddle should be OK for beginners thats assuming you have done some paddling before. If that sounds
like too much there will also be demo boards available to have a paddle around. We are trying to get someone to put
on a low key clinic while the main event is running but it's not that easy when everyone wants to do the race.

Hope to see you down there!

Yep register online for sure but there will still be "sign in" on the day for those that have
already registered for safety reasons prior to race briefing and the start.
