Huge thank you to all the volunteers who didnt compete but gave up their time and effort in blazing hot conditions to help out and ensure things ran smoothly. There were many people doing coast watch for the marathon race, marshalling for the Technical Race, slaving over BBQs assisting with judging, wives, friends, family, girl and boy friends who simply just helped out and made life easier. High fives all round cheers.

Thank you to the Water Safety Team for a huge effort yesterday and some long hot hours on the skis you were a critical component in the success.

Congrats to everyone who Surfed and Raced yesterday it was a mamouth effort in the heat by all competitors and to the guys and girls that backed up racing with surfing or in some cases raced surfed then raced again, you guys rock. I was only shooting images and I was shattered when I got home I dont know how you achieved what you achieved but I was sure impressed to see you do it!

SUP Vic, Bass SUP and Surf Vic did a ball breaking effort to get this event to work, dotted i's and crossed t's they didnt even know they had to until this event ran.

The sponsors Core Board Sports, Strapper, VB, Kahuna Street SUP, Hive Swimwear, Farm Foods etc the stand alone event would simply not have been possible without you.

Special mention to a great all round bloke Rich Bartle who gave up the whole day to help out a mate enough said.

Special thanks to Teeps for getting Kristi's board to the beach for the Tech Race and for everyone giving her a cheer when she finally hit the beach, she hit the wall in the heat but just didnt want to give up.

I want to say thank you to all the water patrol for being so great and helping me out when the day went so wrong for me, you guys are all amazing. A BIG thank you must go out to my friend Rich Bartle who sat with me and my wife and son through out the whole ordeal including driving with us to seek medical attention and then he went all the way back to the start to pick my car up. I had a damn terrible day but it could have been so much worse without great people like you. THANKS

Agree with everything Phill said - especially regarding the people who came to provide safety support but didn't compete, that was an outstanding effort in the heat. And of course, Rich rocks. Hope you're feeling much better Justin.

Great pics Phill,
this is the course I paddled for the Marathon race downloaded from the gps I attached to the 14 Ace[thanks RPS ], was 19km in length and about 2.3k the furthest distance from shore after we were expertly guided around the Barwon Heads Bluff and between the first 13th beach bombie and shoreline by Surfing Vics ski safety crew before a direct run down to Torquay again aided by the ski crew constantly directing all competitors in the right direction. Was the first point to point downwind race I've been involved in and had a blast, well done to everyone in the race, awesome effort giving it a go.
Watched some really high standard surfing in the arvo, with Matt Takle throwing big turns in the final to just get home just in front of Lummers.
The crew in the technical race had a huge battle going in the 37 degree heat, back and forth at the front of the pack with Heath taking the lead at the end after being slowed from some early race dramas and taking the win.
Surfing Vic put on a top day.

Thanks Camo, that map in conjunction with a fairly stiff northerly wind goes some way to explaining why my right shoulder is so tender today. Nevertheless, it was a great fun course and I would love to do it again soon.

I was so pleased to see Camo win on the 14' Ace; amazing that he only had a day or two to practice on it. Of course, Jean notching up the women's state championship in both race distances in the one day is a remarkable achievement. And Heath's effort to back up from the marathon, then suffer some equipment problems early in the technical race, but still manage to paddle over the top of the field and win was so inspiring to see. Just goes to show what happens if you refuse to give up.

Well done to all the winners and place getters.

Can't wait for the nationals.

Thanks Surf Vic for running such a fantastic contest, to get all three events done on the same day was a great achievement, the whole vibe of the day was one of positivity which helped produce terrific results in the surfing and distance racing, also thanks Phil for the camera work great job in the 37+ heat, whilst we were in the water you were sweating it out taking the great shots..... me i had a day.... mj

I heard a rumour it was a measure put in place to make sure you paddled the correct course Cam! We all didn't want to see you disqualified for not staying the course!

Not that you would ever do that, right?

When I saw the Bombie break was making real sure I stayed on course,

a bit different to a ghost pole for a turning mark in the bay
